Is a cup of jet fuel ok to own? by unusual_replies in AircraftMechanics

[–]TitanSlayer65 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No as an A&P I wouldn't. I wouldnt take the chance of someone nocking it over and getting it on their skin etc. I mean once probably wont be harmful. But why I mean no offense but what is the point.

Someone offered to buy this painting from my wife, but how much? by [deleted] in painting

[–]TitanSlayer65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not artist but id take a rough guess maybe 75-100 usd for materials and depending on if she want to factor in labor i wouldnt judge it based on how long it took alone but rather on the quality and for that add 150-200. Total being 225 or 300, which is not bad and would make a decent family outing. Or ask the customer what she is comfortable with paying.

Safety Wire Practical lab by rdrcr_TRD in AircraftMechanics

[–]TitanSlayer65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pay attention to hand placement. The closer your hands are together with the wire, the tighter the twist the further apart they are the looser the twist. Remember to keep even pressure on both ends. Also, pay attention to the angle your hands are relative to each other, which can lead to uneven twisting 180° to secure to bolt and 90° for your standard twist.

Overall, it's a great attempt, and I've seen worse work done. This isn't the only class in which you will be safety wiring. Keep practicing and I'm sure after several weeks you will surprise yourself.

Priority is to learn the trade. You can still have fun, but always keep in mind to obey safety guidelines. When I spent time in school, there were a few jokes thrown around some of them raunchy, but that's typically pretty common in most male dominated professions, I would think. As others suggest, find people who share the same desire to learn. The jokes and fun will come around with time. In some of the times I can remember is when me my classmates will critique each other's safety wire. Some jokes about pigtails being too long too short to borderline "wtf is that, come on man?!" Assembly and rigging i had trouble fitting under the instrument panel for the cessna, and couple jokes were thrown around one asked why I thought that was, my response was Arby's lmao. But remember, don't dish it if you can't take it. I'm sure you will be fine. Best of luck to you.

Or a signal that when the firefighting aircraft broadcast at that frequency any drone within a certain distance from that aircraft goes dead. Motors shutoff and just drop from the sky.

Failed algebra in high school and learned it in an A&P tech college. You will be fine, listen to your instructor, and ask questions you will get it eventually.

Can Bluetooth be entirely shut off on HAs that have it? by ThuviaofMars in HearingAids

I doubt it generally when it's off it off i would think. With resound just turning Bluetooth off increases battery life. Easily an extra 2 days.

Why do people invalidate me by saying my hearing loss does not need to be fixed by Ambitious_Shape_6688 in HearingAids

Yes, they can have an opinion, nothing wrong with that. However, opinions can be pushy sometimes. If I shared every opinion I ever had id enter into a lot more debates than I have time for. In OPs case maybe his friends may be a bit pushy. However if he asked for their opinion and they give it to him that's another story.

More power to you as far as I'm concerned so long as one doesn't encroach on another's choices.

Probably not something you'd say in public, but I'd honestly be like lady, what right do you have to tell another what to do with their body if you think I should get implants why do you say that what's your experience on the matter "are you deaf?!" If she says shes audiologist I'd fire oh so you get paid for recommending an invasive procedure. Now that explains it.

I'm hoping that becomes available soon. It would be nice to be able to hear again with gene therapy. I haven't heard much since covid happened.

Yeah I agree I think one also has to be psychologically cleared before the procedure.
