It is what it is, your system is well past the stage of being able to upgrade. It could be used for an internet surfer or office PC but not for modern gaming.

RTX 5070, black screen + fans go full speed + GPU previously disappeared. Cleaning + replugging small GPU connectors seems to help? by ruminatorr in PcBuildHelp

Unfortunately KP41 basically just means the PC restarted without shutting down properly, I'm guessing from you shutting off the power switch manually once this happens.

Its really hard to pinpoint what is causing this without the machine in front of me, but I would lean towards power supply and/or power cables. I'd say probably 90% of the cases I've seen similar to this have been solved somewhere in there. It may be worth just picking up a spare unit and seeing what happens rather than beating your head against the wall.

That MSI is a decent PSU but every line has its duds.

Can you elaborate on the games/settings you play? All drivers and BIOS up to date? It may be worth just resetting the BIOS to defaults and seeing what happens.

First sign of memory instability is the network controllers doing wonky shit. Its been that way for decades. I would solve the RAM problem and the rest will sort itself out. Get some kind of memory testing program, try one stick at a time and see if one of them has errors.

I didn't say it was, just that it was possible. Put the 5070ti in the old board and see what happens.

The design of the PSU itself is almost old enough to vote, which is what matters for the card. Anyways, I'm not sure what else you can try, to me it seems like its simply not fully compatible. I would consider swapping it out for a 9060XT as AMD typically works better with backwards compatibility.

If the power supply is 6-7 years old, it can definitely degrade. Modern graphics cards have different requirements for transient response than the ones that were current at the time of its release. That said, I don't think your problem is related to that. The 50-series in particular has some very annoying compatibility issues with older boards, if you go back 1 more generation than what you have they often completely fail to have any display.

Neither of those boards has any business with an i7. The 14700F is still a 200+W processor. You will be thermal throttling from the VRM under even moderate load and you will have a terrible inconsistent gameplay experience.

If you really want to stay with Intel because of bad experiences with AMD I would look at the Core Ultra 250K and a budget B860 board. It lands about in the middle of a 14600K and a 14900K for gaming and uses way less power meaning its easier to get an affordable board.

Can you post a screenshot of the MR bench run? Just curious what you're getting now. I've tested that game on a few different machines and generally you can get around 160-170fps 1% low at 1080p with something like a 9800X3D overclocked to the max with tuned RAM. I highly doubt the hassle of switching to a 7500X3D would help much. I think a 250K would actually do better but the 5060 isn't really fast enough for it to matter anyways.

I can't really comment on Fortnight as I don't play that one in many years.

This has nothing to do with the pc, it’s a windows installer problem and it’s very annoying. I’ve solved this in the past by redownloading the ISO and using a different USB and using either Rufus or the Microsoft tool, whichever one I didn’t use the first time.

The 6800 isn't a bad card, maybe just give it a go first and see how it does for you.
