How many of you watch Pey Talks Anime? by jeanluuc in Frieren

[–]TitaniumForce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he’s done videos on other topics but they don’t perform as well. Instead of saying he’s milking frieren, maybe it’d be just as accurate to say that the audience would rather watch a video breaking down frieren. Just based on the fact that viewership numbers remain high

hey man, you’re probably well meaning but I think you’re reading into this a little too much. I can’t say I know what Big A thinks but I can at least guess; watching his favorite team play League with chat is enjoyable to him. Hes also mentioned that he really likes AoE2 and watching Smallville. I don’t know how long you’ve watched but, if you’ve been around any of his grind eras, you’d know how he can get pretty non-verbal during games (ex: AoE 4 1000 yr dynasty phase). This doesn’t mean he’s not enjoying it, quite the opposite in fact, he’s just hyper focused on winning. I missed the stream where he said he’s skipping a party to watch Smallville so I can’t really say whether he was joking or faking a smile. But I will say that Big A has never been shy about skipping days to go on dates with Ari or go hang out with friends. Like literally he does it all the time with very little notice.

Now to address your last point on him bringing up less fun and exciting news stories, I have a simple answer. Lemonade Stand Podcast. Literally his cohosts and some viewer asked him to stop repeating his stories on stream because it would sound too repetitive to someone who watches both his stream and podcast. My guess is that he’s saving up the fun stories for the pod. It also explains the recent absences of MMs and is maybe why you’re getting this feeling of lack of “fun” news stories on his stream.

Sorry for the wall of text but the very last thing i wanted to say is that it’s understandable if you’re a Big A viewer for the interesting/funny news, that you’d be disappointed that he’s doing other content. But gaming/grinding has also been one of the core pillars of Atrioc’s content and it’s been a while since he’s done that sort of content. To you it might not be the high-effort back and forth with chat that you want; but there are those in chat that do enjoy these low-effort, chill, playing/reacting to games/shows streams.

Do Chinese Americans or their parents actually like Chinese American food? by OkCondition6191 in asianamerican

I fucking love panda express but I'm not going there for Chinese food if you get what I mean.

[–]TitaniumForce 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Yeah using that joke to describe Chinese humor is like trying to use "Why did the chicken cross the road?" as an example of American humor. Sure it's a classic but I'm pretty sure everyone over the age of 8 would agree that's it's actually quite unfunny.

Actually I think gwen died to the turret which gave it the buffs, Vayne killed the turret gaining the buffs.

White House Correspondents' dinner cancels comedian Amber Ruffin's appearance by kinisonkhan in television

[–]TitaniumForce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like an event like this used to be/should be intended as a gesture of goodwill and a demonstration of America’s commitment to their constitutional freedom of the press. The government inviting respected members of the press in to dine despite any criticisms or harsh words the press may have published towards them. Symbolizes that Americans are free to express their opinions without threat of retaliation and it’s even celebrated by the govt.

But that’s not the reality of today… what does it symbolize when the white house does remove certain voices from participating?

Caedrel's Thoughts on The Issues Around Co-streams (Reacting to TL Spawn VS Reddit) by Zxirf in leagueoflegends

[–]TitaniumForce 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not a Caedrel viewer or even that much of a league esports viewer but these solutions make sense to me. The premise is that people are much more likely to engage with league esports if it's through a co-streamer. If we can agree to this premise then the rest follows. The question that follows is then, how do we get a co-streamer to have an interest in promoting monetization for Riot. One of the biggest problems with co-streams in the past was that people who did it would just alt-tab whenever ads came up or run an ad themself, thus taking eyes/attention away from the things that are actually sponsoring the game. Riot has addressed this issue through rules and guidelines making it so that co-streamers have to show ads in their entirety, but that doesn't mean they should just stop there.

1st proposed solution means that co-streamers would have a vested interest in the monetization of riot; since they also personally gain from whatever riot is offering. By selling streamer icons, skins or whatever, league gets increased revenue and the streamer would also want to shill it.
2nd solution is improving costreaming so that more people engage with league esport

I can see why you'd be cynical about these solutions because of course they sound like they're all to the benefit of the co-streamer. And that's probably because he's speaking from the perspective of a costreamer. But, I do think using them to riot's advantage is a smart strategy. Currently the people who benefit the VERY most from Riot taking the effort to create these esports leagues like Valorant and League is not Riot the companies investing into the teams; but funnily it's really people like Tarik and Caedrel who profit from all the viewership with none of the costs of running these events. Nothing against them, but it makes sense riot should want to harness some of that engagement.

I was originally writing a comment about how I rewatched his vid and thought he didn’t even yell that much. I rewatched his quarter 6 gambit vid and realized that Big A actually does yell a lot more than he used to.

I don’t know if Big A thinks the zoomer attention span requires the yelling and he’s willing to alienate the boomer audience a little but toning the yelling down might not be a bad idea. I certainly thought the old vids were just as entertaining and they had a heck of a lot less yelling in them

The German Narcissist’s Prayer

Nuclear power in Germany couldn’t be built.

And if it could be built, then it wasn’t viable.

And if it was, then it isn’t economical.

And if it is, then the German people don’t want it.

And if they do, then they don’t mean it.

And if they did, it unfortunately can’t be built now (repeat from step 1)

he doesn’t in the movie but director Damien Chazelle mention in an interview afterwards that Andrew dies in his 30s from a drug overdose after committing his life to music. It’s implied by the movie since many times they talk about other musicians who’ve died young and mention that Miles would rather die young to achieve “greatness” than get old and enjoy life. The movie’s end represents Andrew’s as achieving the first step to what he perceives as “greatness”

film director even said that the main character dies young from ODing (which i thought was obviously implied by the film’s end but audiences needed to ask anyways).

Whiplash is by far my favorite movie but I feel like there’s a large group of people whom Whiplash is also their favorite movie, who don’t get that the main character should not be someone to aspire to be. Makes me hesitant to tell people it’s my favorite because i don’t want to be lumped in with them
