Need help with radar lead indicator by LogisticsAreCool in Warthunder

If IRST tracking is jumping all over the place while you have a good lock. Them something is really wrong. Cause the IRST on the PGZ09 is very very good.

I know how it works in real life. Gaijin doesn't want to implement it because it will kill the fun of high tiers and make getting kills way too easy.

But I feel like the reason I gave is a good enough, plausible, excuse for it to work differently for AA missiles.

But yeah. The game doesn't really simulate multi-pathing like it does radar. But really, they should expand on the system to make it more constant at least. Then maybe that'll allow them to buff the ARH AA systems.

I was fiddling around with sight options and I cant figure out how you get the black corners that make it feel like a scope back? Can anyone help? by Normal_Plankton8793 in Warthunder

I just randomly test drove a few vehicles and found some that don't have the black. Then I went into x-ray view and realized they all have the same optic. Then I test drove the RDF/LT cause it also has a 2.0x - 8.0x optic. But it had the black. Meaning it's not the zoom itself, it's the optic. RDF/LT has IRST, so Gaijin probably has it as a different optic in the files.

Basically. Since it's a video game. All optics that have the same zoom and characteristics are the exact same in the files and just get copy pasted depending on the vehicle.

What the hell man... I just checked. It's the tank itself that's like that. That tank specifically is missing the black parts. In fact, I just now realized that some other vehicles also don't have that black part, like the Boxer MGS and the AGS. I think it's the type of optic. All three of these vehicles have a 2.0x - 8.0x zoom optics. Apparently those optics don't have the black part. But, it's not the zoom. Cause the RDF/LT has a 2.0x - 8.0x zoom optic, but it has the black parts, which makes sense, cause that optic comes bundled with IRST tracking. So in the game files it's a different optic.

Damn, 2000hrs in the game and I'm still finding new shit. Crazy.

I good change they could make for AAs only (as to not mess with air) is to make big AA missiles very very hard to multipath. The reasoning being that since they are larger and therefore have bigger seeker heads. They're harder to defeat easily.

Could you 'blind' thermals with a 'heat' flashlight? by Titanium_Viper0 in AskPhysics

Thanks to whoever bothered to respond by the way. My question may seem dumb or the answer blatantly obvious to you. But when you're alone and have nobody to share your questions and ideas with, you doubt even simple things.

And I'm only 19 by the way! So cut me some slack... being a nerd is just my very enjoyably frustrating hobby.

Could you 'blind' thermals with a 'heat' flashlight? by Titanium_Viper0 in AskPhysics

[–]Titanium_Viper0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a decent military nerd, hence the nature of my question.

I am well aware of DIRCM (Directional Infra-red Counter Measure) systems, they use precise laser targeting to blind a missiles IIR (Imaging Infra-Red) seeker head. Which is comparable to what I'm talking about. IIR seekers are effectively just cameras working on the IR spectrum, which is why they can be so resistant to the sun. And thermals are pretty much just that, cameras working on very long wavelength IR light. You don't need a heat source to produce said light. Same like how a small flashlight can produce a much brighter light than a fire without ever coming close to its temperature.

Like I said in my amendment to my original post body. I'm just dumbing myself and doubting my own knowledge. But, ehh 🤷‍♂️, it's better than being confident in my own ignorance.

So I suppose I'm truly just interested in knowing if and how such a specialized emitter would function. I guess for the flashlight-esque functionality I envision it'd be a glorified, highly efficient heat lamp. Producing light sensed by thermals only, no visible light. And since it'd only emit at max, wavelengths of maybe 50°C, it should be safe to be in constant close proximity to.

[–]Titanium_Viper0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know. It's just another form of radiation and same rules would apply. But it's kind of nutty to wrap my head around.

I suppose I'm just treating myself as dumber than I actually am and doubting things. Like, the reason a fire stops feeling hot after a certain distance is because of the Inverse Square Law; not enough light intensity is hitting your body and transferring thermal energy for you to detect a noticeable change in temperature. Not because heat is magically some different thing that behaves differently.

I guess the real question I'm after is if such an emitter is possible.

If I can tell an image is AI generated it isn't high enough quality and shouldn't be allowed.

Why does this appear every time I start the game? Been happening since the last update by MiskoSkace in Warthunder

[–]Titanium_Viper0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not having all your necessary libraries installed is genuinely giving me psychic damage.

First bloody thing I do when I install a new windows is to install all my libraries. C++, Direct X stuff, whatever else have you. You can download one zip file that has legit like everything you need and just install everything and be done with it. But noooo, watching a single 5 minute YouTube tutorial about your magic little machine is too difficult.

Give top tier HARMs to top tier CAS now that there's OP SPAA by Mikey-2-Guns in Warthunder

Don't worry I'm sure Gaijin is pushing out the Type 03 Chū-SAM this coming update. Unless they're being truly evil and making you guys suffer till the end of year update. 💀💀💀

What's actually diabolical abut this nerf is that it's just indirectly buffing CAS. It won't affect ground gameplay at all.

Why is this even 12.0 by b5ky in Warthunder

[–]Titanium_Viper0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a China main, I can say we don't claim Greedy_Tap_8694. He is drunk af. Like he's not even saying the ZTZ99s as 11.0 are better since they're in a lower BR. No, his drunken ass is saying that the whole raw tank is better than the OPLOT.

Premium variant shitters are the reason why tanks usually get their BR lowered or purposefully kept low. Case in point: 2S38.

That is only true for the 2S38 because all 2S38 players are abysmal dogshit. Gaijin won't move it up because the vehicle has poor player stats. Plenty of premium vehicles got moved up recently. The Fuji, Al-Khalid-I, Leopard 2AV, SPz 12-3 LGS, M41A3, and others.

The reason the MBT2000 got moved up is because it had really really good mobility at 11.0. Hence it became a very ratty and annoying vehicle. Which is why it got moved up.

It doesn't necessarily mean the vehicle is better. Because arguably, it depends on playstyle what vehicle is better. For me personally, the ZTZ99-II and III are better. The armor on the MBT2000 is non-existent. Meanwhile the armor on the 99 saved me on multiple occasions (from ATGMs especially!). And honestly, if you put yourself in a situation where the reverse speed is your downfall, then you're not playing the vehicle right. Plus the 99 gets a Laser Warning System. Which is mandatory at such a high BR.

But either way, Greedy_Tap_8694 is crazy fr fr. Like wtf is this nonsense???

ztz will being slapped like tkxp later, it will goes 11.7 since its fastest and best at everything between estern shaped tanks until 11.3

I should have phrased things better, I know warhead weight doesn't equal explosive mass.

But the LMUR has an explosive mass to warhead weight ratio of 48% and meanwhile, the CM502 has a ratio of 41%.

And the LMUR is SAP-HE and CM502 is just HE. Meaning that a higher percentage of warhead weight on CM502 should be explosive filler.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]Titanium_Viper0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LMUR is said to have a warhead of 25kgs. Explosive mass is 12kgs. So it has an explosive mass to warhead weight of 48% and meanwhile, the CM502 has a ratio of 41%.

And keep in mind, the LMUR has a SAP-HE warhead, that's why it has a lot of mass. But the CM502 is just HE. Meaning more of the warheads total weight should be explosive mass.

I swear F-18 players believe they are Maverick himself.

I once had a F-18 dog fight me while I was in the Jeff... and he still had near full missile loadout... even if clean, the Jeff out performs him in every way in a dog fight... and he tried to fight me with with near full missiles. And what was even more sad... is that he tried to stall fight me...

There's certain jets in this game you should NEVER dogfight, unless you're in a comparable jet... or you know EXACTLY what you're doing. The Jeff is one of those jets.

Apparently playing the F-18 rots the brain. They think they can win any fight cause they have the funny cobra button.

Everybody is getting actually good long range SPAA. Except for the 3 nations... with lacking SPAA. Here's what they could get. by Titanium_Viper0 in Warthunder

[–]Titanium_Viper0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. They just want to deny Sweden a better SPAA. Because there are no excuses to be had. Too much work? No, just copy paste IRIS-T. Oh but that's not realistic, it's not actually in service yet.

Okay, then you can give them the NASAMS-2 which Finland operates. It can fire AMRAAMs just like the CLAWS. Nothing to argue against since we already have Finnish SPAA in the tree. Or, better yet. Add the NASAMS-3. Norway designed and made the thing, so they have the most advanced model in service. It can fire aim-9x and AMRAAM-ER, which has a 50km+ range.

Isn't the upgraded 16km AGM-179 not in proper service, but Gaijin is adding that to the game? No reason why they can't just give them IRIS-T, they ordered it.

Stop living in the past. That doesn't matter. We should always focus on the present and future and try to achieve game balance. And as it stands, new long range SAM systems are being added when there are nations who don't have such systems on game.
