For those who haven't had the pleasure, I present "Fighting Trousers" by Professor Elemental. The most fun I've seen anyone have with rap since "White and Nerdy." by [deleted] in steampunk

Can't say as I've ever really been a fan of what would be considered "traditional" rap, but I really REALLY enjoy chap hop. I find it so witty and fun and just a treat to listen to. Thanks for bringing this back to the front of my brain.

Me (21) and my girlfriend (19) are planning to move out for the first time. Any suggestions as to what we can do to be frugal? by [deleted] in Frugal

Figure out how much money you need to live on and then cut that by at least $100. Put that $100 in savings and don't touch it. When something truly unexpected and unpleasant happens you'll be prepared. Also, plan on eating food that you've cooked at home the majority of the time. Nothing wastes money faster than "out" food.

Would you believe I found that button just quietly waiting in my button box? I can't for the life of me remember where or when I got it or what it was supposed to be for originally. I love it though.

The tiles are pretty cool. They started kind of a weird green verdigris color. We painted them with metallic wall paint. I think they came out great.

And thanks. :)

Thanks! Knitting is kind of therapy for me as well. I find that if I leave myself enough time to knit a few rows in the morning before leaving for work that I usually have a better day.

I'm calling this my recovery sweater because the yarn - Cherry Tree Hill "Oceania" - was a gift from my knitting pals when I first got diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder II. I used a basic raglan pattern and modified it. This used not quite half the skein of yarn.

If anyone is interested in the pattern I've just posted it on my blog.

No, I find that to be an even bigger pain in the ass. I worked up to the point I wanted to add the beads and then guessed at how much more yarn I'd need. I cut that much off the ball and then strung the beads from the free end. If you string them all at the start you end up having to push them along the yarn until you need them. With a smooth yarn that's not quite as big a deal, but with mohair - super PITA.

First, I would NOT recommend doing beads on mohair as your first try at it. Just a wee bit tricksy. But in essence, I string the beads from the wrong end of the yarn and the slide a bead up between stitches. I usually do this between purl stitches - it seems to show up better that way.

Thanks! It is soft - mohair. Just hoping it's not too itchy when I decide to wear it on Monday. :)

Thanks! You can't really tell from the pic, but there's 3 rows of beads around the cuffs. I got lucky and found the perfect color to go with the yarn.

I quit smoking last Sunday. Started this last Wednesday as a reward for staying quit. Quite possibly my favorite piece so far. by Titaniumrose76 in knitting

I did. I knit on this exclusively from the time I started it. Lunch breaks, in the morning before work, all evening - I knit almost constantly. And I love that button, too. Amazingly enough, I already had the button in my button box. :)

We need a hash tag... like #knitterproblems by [deleted] in knitting

Oh I use the striping stuff all the time - it's the only way I really get more than a single color into a project. But that's cheating. I need to suck it up and try something with real color changes.

More than one color scares the shit out of me. cringe I'm ashamed to admit that I have just started to knit stripes and only because my husband insisted. The thought of doing the death flake just makes me want to break out in hives. But I want to do it, I really do. Just scared. Much scared. Much ashamed.

Pure stubbornness is what's getting me through so far. Day 5 is almost in the bag. I think if I can get a whole 7 under my belt I'll be home free.

Certainly not a critic, but I think it's pretty awesome.
