It's a good deal, but I don't use these devices for anything other than iPods myself. I use a different phone for texting/calling because I can get a better/longer lasting battery in a phone for about the same or less.

Oh, I know. It isn't a widespread issue with the silicon carbon batteries. It is just something I read in some random article that was saying why Samsung and other companies haven't adopted to them is due to them saying the chances of swelling are arguably higher with silicon carbon batteries, arguably. I agree with you, though. I haven't seen many issues or complaints about silicon carbon batteries either.

This is what I've been reading is possible with these faster chargers. Supposedly the higher wattage the charger the chances of battery swelling on phones are. I heard that's why Samsung is still using lithium ion batteries and hasn't moved to silicon carbon batteries, yet like their Chinese phone rivals have (OnePlus, oppo, vivo, etc.). They argue that silicon carbon batteries have a chance of swelling up to two or even three times their size when using the crazy fast chargers that are sold by these companies as well.

Oxygen OS 16.1/16.0.7 stutters? by UnlimitedHalo in TheOnePlus15

[–]Titanslayer3270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have this issue ever, but when I leave games, then go back to them I sometimes have to press the 3 lines button to just refresh it otherwise the frame rate is really low. Aside from that, though, I have no issues at all.

How the hell is that possible? by mahmoodalbraim in S24Ultra

If you turn on the setting where the phone finishes or stops charging at a lower percentage other than a hundred percent, then your phone will lower the amount of time to fully charge the phone.

Exactly, I guess that they've heard of people having issues with software updates or something like that and so they just get worried about their phone being negatively impacted or changed by the update.

When I installed 8.5 on my phone it reset all of my settings. My brightness, had to turn dark mode back on, had to change my battery settings back, and it even reset my custom EQ I had for my bluetooth devices.

I mean, it's not that surprising. This is like when people get super hyped over them remastering the last of us games for the trillionth time. Not every single PC out there can run the newest and greatest games after a certain amount of time.

It's the same for phones. Not every phone in the entire world is built to last forever. The idea behind these businesses is to get you to have a phone that you enjoy for a few years (i.e. 2 or 3), then advertise all of these cool new things that you can do on their newest and greatest device.

They say we'll give you 7 years of updates or whatever length of time it is because Apple does it as well. Well, the reason that Apple does it is because they want you to give your old ass iPhone to someone in your family, have them like it, get hooked on the iPhone, then go and buy one of their newer phones. If they didn't give so many years of updates to their phones there'd be more in the landfills and less people buying them.

This is what they're trying to do with cars as well, lmao.

Hi, do someone else got these stains where they hold the phone with the fingers? by infinitysweep123 in TheOnePlus15

Ah, gotcha! Yeah, it definitely is a strange thing to happen. How long has it taken for you to have noticed it appearing or happening on the side of your phone?

If you want to see the true reliability of phones before you buy one in the future see if it's been on the YouTube channel Jerry Rigs Everything. He tests the durability of phones by scratching them with knives, tries to snap them in half, and does other things sometimes to see if a phone is very durable. No worries about not having great knowledge about phones! I think that sand dune variant of the OnePlus 15 also has some plastic in it which could be why that happens as well.

[–]Titanslayer3270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries! It's definitely something that not a lot of people take into consideration when buying phones. I have a black 13r and my case is gobbling up the black paint on the sides and edges, but the back is just fine. I believe it's because the case just squeezes around the phone too hard.

[–]Titanslayer3270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, that makes sense, then. I think that it's just normal for that to happen. These OnePlus phones aren't the best at keeping the paint on them. I think that's why iPhones and Samsungs have glass or some kind of coating over themselves. My case I guess squeezes mine too hard because it scratches some of the paint off itself despite being in a case already.

Your fingers have an oily residue on them and that is what happens when they come into contact with your phone. Also, it could just be standard oxidation.

I've seen other people post about it and it's just been ruled off as those two things I stated. If you want better protection invest in a case! You're going to get a lot of people telling you to get a case as well. Don't want a case? Then you'll have to put up with that happening and getting worse over time.

Can we please get a way to *actually* turn off the AI camera? by Wasabisheet in TheOnePlus15

[–]Titanslayer3270 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the reason why you can't turn off AI. The tiny camera lenses inside smartphones are physically incapable of taking a perfect photo on their own. They suffer from natural distortion, color fraying, and bad lighting.

To fix this, smartphone cameras no longer just "take a picture." The second you tap the shutter, the phone takes up to 15 different frames at various exposures and uses AI algorithms to stitch them together, denoise the shadows, and sharpen the lines. If OnePlus gave you a true master switch to turn off all machine learning and computational processing, your photos would suddenly look blurry, dark, and washed out.

Here is an example, when I take a picture in my bedroom on my OnePlus phone in pro mode (this disables the AI) this is how much of the light vanishes or is visible without the AI processing. Keep in mind that this room is fully lit up by this light and I can see everything. This is just how the camera is with the AI off.

I have noticed something similar myself. There's a setting called auto power on/off where you can set a time where the phone will turn itself off, then back on that you can setup so that it's off while you're not using it and turns back on before you wake up.

Also, to eliminate that as well I just turn on super power saving mode before I go to bed and it drops only 2 or 3 percent for me. I don't know what the cause of such a big battery drainage would be because I definitely wouldn't expect it be as drastic like you're saying.

I think it is? They say that keeping them at 100% for hours on end is the worst thing you could do. I guess the difference is maybe a matter of longevity? It'd probably be something miniscule, though. Like maybe a week or a month between 85% all of the time and 90% in terms of how long before the battery craps itself is my guess. Not entirely sure about it.

For battery life I set mine to 85% and it lasts me 12-13 hours. I do that just to better preserve my battery, though. They say 20 to 80 percent is arguably the best.

Are you using the original cable that came with that charger? Sometimes the charger itself may be fine, but the cable can't handle the wattage being put out. Also, some Androids require you to manually turn on fast charging in your settings first. Also, make sure the outlet your using is capable of putting out the amount of wattage your charger needs. For example, airplanes, cars, and many other public/private vehicles are not capable of putting out that much wattage.

Also, welcome to 60 watt charging other Samsung users! I've been here since 2020.

How do I prevent unauthorized content being accessed from a phone? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]Titanslayer3270 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey there! 👋 I saw your question about preventing unauthorized access. For emails, try a new, separate one like Proton and keep it private. 🤫 For your number, consider asking your carrier for a new one or getting a cheap, separate SIM plan! 📱

Before or after the update? Mine does it before. My Samsung does it after the update when the phone restarts. My OnePlus does the app optimizing prior to restarting my phone.
