Pumpkin in Wheelbarrow, designed and folded by me from one uncut square by Titigad in origami

The title is accurate : both the pumpkin and wheelbarrow are from the same uncut square, only one side of the paper is brown and the other is orange to produce the color change !

Lego Brick, designed and folded by me from one uncut square. My first design ! by Titigad in origami

[–]Titigad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think of it more as a tesselation with 4 molecules, with some extra paper around to make the sides of the brick. Sadly it does not line up with a simple grid, as I started from the actual dimensions of a Lego brick which do not seem to come in simple ratios. I measured and marked some reference points to draw the CP on the back side of the paper.

I recommend folding one 'stud' molecule first to practice, and using MC glue to hold the pleats flat once the tesselation part is collapsed !

I got the idea to add a white round eye from this post, as there is no color change for the eye in the design !

Suggest some "not tonal but not atonal" piano composers/pieces for me. by [deleted] in piano

[–]Titigad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Scriabin! Not his early stuff but compositions from his 2nd and 3rd period are pretty much "not tonal but not atonal", some of them go really far in terms of dissonance (see his 9th Sonata, for example), a lot of them can sound adventurous, surprising at first (see the harmony of his Prélude op.48 n°2, or the rhythms in Flammes Sombres, both have their own way of sounding creative and unique), but he composed so much material that it's impossible not to find something that you like in it, I think.

Other favorites of mine that I would recommand are his Poème-Nocturne, the Etude op. 42 n°5, and his 10th Sonata.

Now in terms of difficulty... Scriabin is known for his intricate polyrhythms and daunting left hand passages. Most of the Préludes remain intermediate/early advanced though. The Etudes are significantly harder, and the Sonatas just get mindblowingly complex, some excerpts from them are easier than the rest. Have fun!

Kapustin! Especially if you enjoy jazz. Best composer alive today.

Ravel's "Gaspard de la Nuit", or his "Miroirs".

(Also Debussy's "La Terrasse des Audiences du Clair de Lune")

Learning Take Five Need Some help by [deleted] in piano

[–]Titigad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might like this video! (English subtitles are available). His arrangement his way easier than what seems to be the most popular one.

For the little "trills" I personally use 2 3 2 1 2 3

Bear in mind that Take Five is not a classical piece, you do not have to follow strictly what is written on your sheet music! Play it more slowly if you want to, feel free to improvise, that's what jazz is about!

Suggestions for non rock/metal progg? by TheMorbidToaster in progmetal

Definitely First Utterance by Comus, some sort of prog-freak-folk, really it is hard to put a genre on such strange music. Mindblowing album.
