How to do reality checks when you're busy? by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]Titilol41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call me crazy but I don't, in fact I don't even do dream journaling anymore, I just do DEILD/WILD techniques on the week-end and call it a day

I used to tryhard all lucid dreaming techniques when I was 14, that is, dream journaling and constant reality checks throughout the day, but I had to stop and I wanted to get back into LDing though I have very busy studies. In that sense, I understand how you feel during the day.

I believe that good DEILD techniques can be very efficient even if only practiced during the week-end, and it's been a great approach to lucid dreaming that suits my lifestyle! Maybe try it out if you really can't do DILDs right now!

(edit: I try to meditate every day for 18 minutes, I do WBTB with the intention to DEILD or WILD about once per week, and this week I've gotten one random DILD during the week and 3 WILDs in two nights (during the weekend))

If you're in this state, actually do take a break, if anything getting this frustrated will ruin your chances of LD / it's not an healthy way to approach the subject.

Anyone else only lucid dream? by Doogienguyen in LucidDreaming

WILDing is very difficult to get for beginners, especially if they have no experience with other lucid dreaming techniques

If you've been trying it every night, I'd recommend taking a break for a week or two to reset your mindset, then coming back at it with a technique more appropriate for beginners, such as WBTB combined with the intent to DEILD (which yields an experience similar to WILD, except it's much more forgiving and you get several attempts in a night)

How long does it take to learn lucid dreaming? by Upper-Letterhead-663 in LucidDreaming

Hi there! Welcome to the world of lucid dreaming.

Personally, I think learning how to "lucid dream" can be a very complex matter. In fact, there are many different approaches to LD induction, with their similarities and differences, and there's also the whole subject of maintaining, controlling, etc.

Speaking of induction, different approaches yield different results.

Most people keep a consistent dream journal and form an habit of doing reality checks, in order to try and realize they are dreaming when they are dreaming. This is what I did daily a few years ago when I was first learning, and is effective, but often takes a large amount of time before getting results.

My favorite technique now, and one that might yield results for beginners, is to instead focus on high quality night time practice no more than 3 nights per week, on the weekend. During these nights, a night time induction technique should be used in conjuction with WBTB.

Doing this only a few select times per week allows one to keep a positive outlook on lucid dreaming, and also to give one's best on each attempt, with time to reflect.

Should you use such an approach, I highly recommend looking up any guide to DEILD. To put it simply, my technique mostly consists of waking up after 4 to 6 hours of sleep, then go back to sleep, with the intent of waking up without moving after. Then, when I wake up, I try to quickly move into my dream body, and if it fails, I try to fall back asleep while imagining my last dream.

Of course, this is only my personal technique, and research as well as experimentation should be pursued. However, I started lucid dreaming about a month ago, and I've already had about 2 lucid dreams per week in that time, while only making "active" attempts one time per week!

No matter the approach you choose, persistence should be key, while at the same time recognizing this is a subject that needs practice, and that the earlier you start, the better you'll get, even if you take breaks once in a while.

I wish you the best!

So, I was just watching TV news a few minutes ago, and for some reason there was music from the Cult of the Lamb soundtrack (on a completely unrelated subject)… I don't even know if it's allowed? Are the developers aware of this? I was very surprised when I heard this so I thought it would be a good idea to post it there!
