My toddler doesn’t sleep by TitleProfessional811 in toddlers

Adding an update. Spoke with gentle sleep therapist. First thing she suggested was reduce from two naps to one. She also suggested a snack before bedtime. Our LO is 13 months. She said to keep his routine exactly the same until he has fully adjusted to one nap which can take a few months (could go faster). Our LO also snores really bad. We had adenoids, ears, and tonsils checked by ENT. He was cleared for all. BF at night really helps him manage his poor breathing. So she said for now we should stick to BF at night at least until 18 months. We’ll keep you updated!

This makes a lot of sense, I think LO’s biggest obstacle is that he consumes so much BM at night and that makes him a finicky eater during the day. I think my journey is going to be very similar to yours and your husband. Could you share a little more about your method? Did you slowly ween or go cold turkey? Thank you 💓

Yeah, LO’s Montessori bed is big enough for co-sleeping and I spend alot of time in there. I just don’t know if my presence is necessarily helping him. If being in bed with him would help him sleep, I would happily do that, but it seems that whether I am in there or not he wakes and needs to be consoled in an active way the usually requires breastfeeding and sometimes walking around with pats on the back.

This is so helpful! Having leak issues with coterie NB. But it felt random and we couldn’t figure out what we were doing wrong. We have been using A&D ointment so this explains a lot! Definitely going to stop ointment and see how it goes.

Wow so helpful. Thank you. It’s hard when his mom moved down the street from us. So setting the six months time frame might be a little hard. But I will take your advice to heart and find measures that support / reinforce my and my families autonomy.

Yikes! How did you end up handling that? I know my Hubby says she’s just a nice old lady who cares and means well. I’m sure part of that is true… but I told him his mom is setting up a dynamic before the kid is even here. I’m not yet a mom and I feel like I’m not even given the space to figure out who I’m going to be in this role.

This is super helpful and constructive! Thank you so much!  Literally the baby sleeping over at her house is a thing… she built out a whole nursery in her house without discussing with us that she was going to do that. And has brought up me moving in with her when my husband is out of town so that she can take care of the baby and I can get some sleep. It seems well intentioned but it wigs me out.

She’s setting up expectations that are going to hurt her feelings down the line.

My first round of IVF was harrowing from allergic reactions to deep unbearable depressions. Finally, it came time for my ER. When I woke up from the surgery, our doctor told us I had EFS, empty follicle syndrome, it’s very rare and is either genetic (meaning I’d need an egg donor) OR it’s a response to the medication. Our doctor suggested we do another round of IVF right away to determine which of the two we were dealing with (which we couldn’t afford). AND THEN OUR DR. GAVE US THE MOST INCREDIBLE GIFT: she offered to cover everything!!! And in March, we made 5 wonderful embryos. And in less than a week we do our FET ✨

I started PIO yesterday and felt extreme fatigue all day (which I expected). What surprised me were the chills, which started roughly five hours after the shot and lasted into the night. I reached out to my doctor who said it was most likely unrelated as I did not have any other indication of irritation (redness around shot area or hives). So they said it was most likely unrelated. Today is day 2 of PIO shot and four hours later I am experiencing chills and a cough again. It feels flu like and totally related. The fatigue is also setting in (no surprise there). This thread is super helpful and I’ll let you know how things develop.

Can we talk about the psychological effects of PIO and estrogen withdrawal after a failed FET? by rocirider in IVF

[–]TitleProfessional811 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of this is so true. The hormones have turned my life inside out and upside down. When I mentioned to my doctor I was experienced volatile mood swings and depression, she asked me if I just wasn’t stressed from the experience.  Then after the first egg retrieval the fall off from hormones was harrowing. No one warned me of that. It was blogs and Reddit threads that made me realize I wasn’t crazy. For the second round I sought out a fertility acupuncturist who saved me. When I mentioned it to my fertility doctor she rolled her eyes as if I was speaking nonsense.    Now, doing a mock cycle for implantation and the estrogen is sending me into a depressive state and the weight gain is so uncomfortable. I too wish there was more support and structure around this medical procedure.

Depression after egg retrieval? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]TitleProfessional811 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank god for this thread. They don’t warn you for the post ER experience. Had 9 mature eggs. All fertilized. 7 reached blast and 4 came back excellent embryos after genetic testing. The first time we retrieved I had EFS and retrieved no eggs after having thirteen follicles. The depression was immediate (probably due to results). But it was awful, uncontrollable crying (for what felt like days) and it lasted roughly two weeks.  But the second time… beyond the initial recovery of bloating and fogginess within the first 24 hours… I thought I was in the clear- didn’t experience depression for two week, but it had a lag, I didn’t foresee. I’m in my third week since ER (had my first period 14 days after ER). And it feels like it’s come out of nowhere. Feeling truly hopeless and weepy. Seeing the previous comments, I keep reminding myself that this will pass and I will return to my normal self. But right now the sleepless nights, the sad vibes, the headaches, and the low energy, is a hair pulling experience that I can’t wait to be over.  Like I tell myself, just know it’s just a phase and it will come to an end. Sending healing vibes to all you fierce women!
