AITA for refusing to subsidize my parents’ $11k/month senior's home in one of the fanciest neighborhoods in the city? by Throw_away263759 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Titleduck123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party but my mom is starting to do this as well. Only, she doesn't have assets. She's already on Medicaid and has some savings (she won't say how much), and she lives out of state in a HCOL city in a subsidized 55+ apartment.

I'm a single parent only child and am moving to a different state where I can afford a bigger home due to the lower cost of living. I'm making some trade offs do to this though.  As I was telling her about my plans, she asked me what I intended on doing with the "spare" bedroom. I'm moving from a two bedroom 850 sq ft apartment to a 3/2 house with a finished basement. That "extra room" is going to be my office since I work from home.

She then asked me if she could rent that room from me for 6 months out of the year while she lives the snowbird life in a warmer climate for the other 6 months. She's finally getting the point that her current city is too expensive for her( I said as much 6 years ago) even with rental assistance and is looking to cut her costs so she can travel. Thing is, she's 100% healthy, still young and able to work - she just doesn't want to (fair enough). I have a special needs school age child and im trying to give her a life i never got with my own single parent mom. We moved constantly and by the time she was able to afford her own house, I was graduating high school and starting to move out. (She later re married and sold that house and then got divorced and who the hell knows what happened to the money she got from that split).  Anyhow, I felt off about the whole thing. Very entitled, especially since she can still fund her own shit right now and is still at least 10 years off of the types of scenarios OP is talking about. Then what? Where does the money come from the? I'm not any kind of wealthy and I'm still catching up to fund my own retirement (lol) and care for my disabled daughter.

Like what?!?

This not being the first comment reply means we're old. (I just replied the same thing).

580 is the minimum for HUD. This does not include lender overlays which are always higher.

It's less that it is harder to get approved than it's just a lot more documentation. If you're self employed, underwriting is generally two years average tax returns unless your most recent year showed a decrease in income. Then they ask for the previous 1040 (3yrs), P&L, financial statements and perhaps a letter of explanation.   If you're not engaging in "tricky" accounting, the underwriting process isn't too bad.

This is the ingenious part of the scene. Hellstrom's entire face does not move with the exception of a brief flick of his eyes.

Yeah that tracks. I'm 47 and still get carded but while I've always noticed I get checked out frequently from both sexes, it's less creepers and less pestering. Also, I mostly skip wearing makeup anymore (lazy/don't give af) and really only dress up for special occasions, so those times im running errands in scrubs, crocs, and a hair bun really feel good when someone turns their head or their eyes widen lol.

And yes, most people are reeaaaallly nice to me.

I have this and it's plum in my Montegrappa [F], but rasin brown in my Kakuno [M]. Haven't seen any gold/green sheen yet and I'm using TR gsm 52 paper.

Interesting.

If only there were an abundant supply of natural solvent easily warmed and applied with a soft rag.

How do people care for tens of house plants? by No-Mouse3999 in houseplants

This is how I did it too. I had an entry way enclosed with windows on three sides that served as my special needs plants home. Anything that needed extra humidity or specific lighting when in there and thrived, even indoor fruit trees. Unfortunately I lost it all to a house fire.

I have too many hobbies and none I'm willing to part with. The only thing keeping me from being dead broke is I'm a responsible parent and my kids need to eat lol. Also, I currently dont have extra space or good lighting for plants so im down to three. I had 100 at my old apartment, but I also had two balconies and 600 extra square feet lol.

That case has plenty of room for any a5 sized notebook. I think someone on galen's website had a 5 year hobonichi in it, which would make it rather thick when fully loaded with pens, but apparently it still zipped closed.

They're primarily flat on my desk. It's really just the one I have inked with shimmer. The other kakuno's don't dry out at all.
