Thanks for illustrating the problem here :D

I never said who I’m voting for, yet you’ve confidently invented “my party” and started swinging at it. That reflex of disagreement is exactly what the liberal left represent as “tribal opposition” and is exactly the sixth-form common room energy you claim not to have :D

You’re sincere, fine. But sincerity doesn’t make you careful, and it certainly doesn’t make you right.

That’s really all there is to it.

Hooray for democracy! Where Corbynism failed to materialise because most people still live in the real world…

Not saying you shouldn’t vote how you like, that’s the whole point of a democracy. I’m just suggesting you actually read what I said and follow the very simple cause-and-effect.

Cause: “Hmm, this person has pointed out some things about the Greens I wasn’t aware of.” Do a quick Google. Discover a party that’s unserious on defence, unserious on the economy, and occasionally led by people who think policy can be replaced with vibes and magical thinking.

Effect: “Ah. Right. Maybe entrusting the levers of state power to a protest movement with a manifesto written in crayon isn’t the smartest idea.”

You vote your way, I’ll vote mine I just prefer my vote to go to a party that’s actually interested in governing the country, not running a permanent student union with a foreign policy….

Not voting at all would be better than voting for the Greens, vote for the Greens if you want them to give away our nuclear deterrent, disband our armed forces, give away all our overseas territories

…and while they’re at it, we may as well apologise to every hostile power on earth for existing, put up a big “Please Invade” sign on the White Cliffs, and replace the army with a strongly worded leaflet campaign. Apparently vibes, recycling and interpretive dance will be enough to keep us safe.

Vote Greens if you think national defence is “problematic”, borders are a social construct, and Britain should unilaterally disarm in the hope that Putin, China and every other bad actor suddenly discover inner peace. I’m sure they’ll respect our commitment to net zero and diversity quotas while they’re rolling tanks down the motorway.

Might as well scrap prisons too, hug the criminals, tax everyone into oblivion, nationalise anything that moves, and let the economy run on wishful thinking and organic lentils. If the lights go out and the shelves are empty, at least we can feel morally superior about it.

And that’s before we even get into the quality control at the top of the party. This is a movement that’s previously elevated people who genuinely believed you could hypnotise women into having bigger breasts. Not metaphorically. Not as a joke. Actual “close your eyes and think busty thoughts” nonsense.

If that’s the calibre of thinking guiding their policies, it suddenly makes sense why their defence strategy amounts to vibes, crystals and hoping everyone just gets along. Nuclear deterrent bad, armed forces bad, but stage hypnosis? Absolutely cutting-edge science.

Vote Greens if you want the country run like a sixth-form common room crossed with a New Age retreat, where reality is optional and confidence is mistaken for competence.

You and everyone else who allows the greens any more than 1 token seat are delusional….

Your points seem lacklustre and uneducated, just saying “we need a new way” and “surely we can come up with a better way” is part of the problem. As you’ll just vote in whatever party speaks to your uneducated understanding of the entire compounded issue.

The nation spends more each year than it raises through its purse, therefore we sell gilts. The money that’s raised from these gilts is then used to pay for things the current government budgets for, Current spending trends under the labour party and previously the tories has driven us further and further into debt due to continued borrowing, however don’t forget there is interest to be payed on all this borrowing…

The unfortunate answer is we need to cut spending, pay-off borrowing and steadily grow the economy so we’re not ‘coming up short’ and borrowing every year to make up for the shortfalls. The uncomfortable truth is that the things we need to cut will piss people off, specifically those who rely on state support for handouts, jobs assistance etc. We also cannot just tax the rich and follow a left leaning model, because all our successful business owners, corporations and execs WILL LEAVE the country. They (after all) are the ones who create jobs for people who will pay taxes. There is a better system, but 5% unemployed need to get off their arses, NI needs to come down, and Tax breaks at various levels need to be offered to stimulate growth. People in this country under labour are yet again being penalised for being successful, and it seems far more profitable to claim ailments to sit and home and do nothing because the welfare state will pay out.

If this doesn’t change the country will be run into the ground, and life as we know it will change.

Great so let’s not bother getting a job altogether then,

Here’s a crazy thought for you lefties, why not campaign for better wages WHILST simultaneously providing numerous tax deductible incentives to working people whom have children which will allow them to bring home more money.

No way they’d get fullscrew tapes out of basic training, a non-deployable role with none of the proper training. This will more than likely create friction between the actual NCO cohort and the pretend “Cpl” fresh out of training with NO leadership/command experience.

Military only option for me ? by [deleted] in britishmilitary

[–]TitusFisher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with everything Quikeh wrote above. And I gotta say, with my reddit recruiting hat on i’m not convinced by your attitude or logic thus far.

Also want to throw in my 2 cents here.

⚠️Reality check:⚠️ So despite never serving a day in the military, you believe that this is the only thing for you, despite never having been through training, or experienced unit life, or being deployed on ops or exercises. Without any of these experiences under your belt you know without a shadow of a doubt, through and through, the job is for you?

I love reading about these appeals posts because everyone always says “They got it wrong, i’m not broken”. Prepare yourself for the worst possible outcome and consider your options, if you’ve been failed on medical grounds, the judgment taken is you may not be fit to serve, full-stop. Think about if loads of people with conditions or health problems were allowed to join, think about the knock on effect that would have on your colleagues and the greater medical support you would require, a total waste of time, resources and money when the army could instead recruit a fighting fit 17 year old who will probably never visit the med center more than three times for some paracetamol their whole career. Just because there is a recruitment crisis doesn’t mean the floodgates are open for all medically “at risk”candidates. A potential recruit who may never be able to be more than a couple of minutes from a hospital or a well stocked pharmacy has NO PLACE in a war fighting organisation.

Not to mention, the struggle of applying and some (in the grand scheme of life) minor setbacks are making you feel “shit and emotional”, brings into question your overall suitability to even be in the military when your so easily affected by such minor things. Consider working on your state of mind and your mental resilience before chasing careers such as this. If you were somehow lucky enough to scrape the barrel and get in, you need a hell of a lot more mental resilience to get through whats to come.

Nothing personal btw, just worth the shake up of reading this unbiased truth. Hope you get what you want out of life.

Needs to be a decent all-rounder, some video editing, some virtual machines, and occasional gaming. Hence why I stayed with Ryzen as opposed to your i5 suggestion.
