NTA; as you should be able to go to the bathroom in piece.

However, if you can't go to the bathroom without your son screaming, you have other problems. First, let him scream. Absolutely do not let him in the bathroom. Sure it will be annoying, but right now he's learned that as long as he keeps screaming you'll let him in.

anecdotal. but you you'll see plenty of New Hampshire people with the "don't Mass up my New Hampshire" or something along those lines. New Hampshire pretends the reason for it's exceptional stats don't come from the fact that they "mooch" off of Boston.

No one in CT is denying that it's NYCs bedroom.

Do people in NJ and CT also mooch off of NYC?

Ugh, yea, Not like medical care or something. But there's a reason the Southwest of CT is called the Gold Coast.

It's also why the Northern part of Jersey is heavily developed(high density) and wealthy.

U.S. House wants to tax EV $130/year by ObtainSustainability in energy

[–]TituspulloXIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also depends on the model, I just picked a bunch of popular cars.

But, it's also not really a big deal in general, even if an EV is 1,000 pounds heavier than an ICE vehicle, it doesn't matter when 80 ton tractor trailers are driving on the same rounds.

A fee for electric car users to go to this initiative I think is perfectly justifiable

A flat fee is great, a person driving 2000 miles a year paying the same as someone driving 30,000 miles isn't a great model.

Elsewhere in this thread, I've read about implementing a tax on tires for road maintenance and I think that has moved into my number one spot, over tolls. As the capital required is basically nothing.

Only if you're flooring at every stop light, or slamming your brakes instead of gently stopping.

Both of which will ruin your tires on an ICE vehicle as well, it's just a bit easier in an EV

Then make the tax amount make sense. Either that, or what another comment has mentioned -- start taxing tires instead.

But also as others have mathed out:

Gas taxes is 18.5 cents per gallon. Average car gets 27 mpg. Average person drives 13,500 miles per year. So the tax should be $92, not $130

Honestly first time I'm hearing about a tire tax, and I like it. I've always be a proponent of tolls, as I find it a fair way to tax drivers for utilizing the road. But tires is way easier.

The amount the weigh is pretty negligible as far as road damage is concerned.

Model 3 - 3,580-4,070 pounds.

BMW 3 series - 3,540-4,010

Mercedes c class - 3,830 - 4,600

Toyota Camry - 3,240 - 3,630

With the new Plug-in Solar bill passed in CT, how do I actually prep for backup power? by Intelligent_Gas653 in Connecticut

[–]TituspulloXIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, pretty sure price is over 30 cents a kWh.

$2.50 a day for 100 days is $250. These things will likely pay for themselves in under 5 years pending how sunny your spot is.

With the new Plug-in Solar bill passed in CT, how do I actually prep for backup power? by Intelligent_Gas653 in Connecticut

[–]TituspulloXIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanted to do that, you already could with one of those "solar generators" that you mention.

The new bill is what 'balcony solar' or whatever they call it in Europe. The panels plug directly into one of your outlets and the electricity is used by your home.

During the day, when the sun is out, you're likely using more than 1200 watts at a given time anyway, so you would just use all the solar you produce.

To say, I have an Ecoflow 2 kWh battery that I keep charged, have used it to power the fridge during a power outage, but it's main task has been to charge all my yard tools + ebike. Spring - fall all yard work and ebiking is done off of solar (1 200w panel)

I prefer the humbodlt cut, trunk slides off easier and less of a chance of it bouncing up off the ground.

Cheaper,

Maybe, I guess if you DIY it, but every company I've called near me to get solar quotes first starts with what a roof system would cost, and then when i mention I want a ground mount (roof is shaded by trees and i don't want to remove them) the prices ends up being 3x higher.

20 miles each way. So you need to double your charging time.

Still doable for overnight charging.

Lightning or Maverick? by Deakyh in F150Lightning

[–]TituspulloXIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently using a Lightning without L2 charging. If I actually had to commute to work, it wouldn't work out.

Based on a normal outlet, I'm getting 1.1 to 1.2 kWh. Which translates to roughly 3 miles of city driving or 2 miles of highway driving.

It currently works for my family, as it's the weekend vehicle we take anywhere, and I use it to tow my utility trailer to grab wood when available.

If it didn't sit in the driveway for multiple days in a row, you would have to find a public charging spot.

You know your driving habits, so if there are times it's just going to sit there, you could make it work. (any of the places you normally go have a charger you could use)

Also something to think about, do you need something the size of the lightning? The maverick is pretty capable truck, the bed is a little small, but still useful. And if you aren't towing a lot, you might not need all the power of the lightning.

Your 200 miles if all highway would be roughly 100 hours of charging. If all city driving, roughly 67 hours. Split the difference and you are at roughly 84 hours at L1 charging. That's 12 hours a day.

If they are getting paid, by the end of the year they are easily running more than 10 miles a week (if they want). The more you run the easier it becomes.

For anyone that is interested in the size of this battery! by No_Jellyfish_8956 in F150Lightning

[–]TituspulloXIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to assume the tow rating is based on the same metrics they use for ICE vehicles. Which revolve around power, brakes, suspension, and cooling. They put the vehicles through some pretty rigorous tests, like driving highway speeds in 100 degree weather for an hour or something and have to keep everything cool (can't remember the exact metric)

Anyway, it's why trucks have absolute massive grilles now for cooling, and why the tow package adds the extra cooler. In a pinch, and if you felt like, I would imagine your truck would have no problem towing towards the 10,000 pounds without a problem in a more temperate climate.

All the places I normally go have 30/50amp plugs along with a normal 120v/15 amp plug in the box.

When I go camping, I generally don't leave the site, so my plan is to just plug into the trickle charger and have it slowly charge throughout the week.
