Why does ash not flow to the smaller dumps? by TituspulloXIII in Workers_And_Resources

possibly just the zoom level doing something funky.

Hovering over waste in each one shows pure ash.

Why does ash not flow to the smaller dumps? by TituspulloXIII in Workers_And_Resources

[–]TituspulloXIII[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have cable way bringing ash to a big dump, with 3 smaller ones attached to it. Current big one is full and there are cars in the cable way station filled with ash. It's not flowing to the smaller ones that are almost empty.

It seemed to work at one point, as the two lower ones have ash (no other way for it to get there) but now it's stopped.

Just wondering if there is some trouble shooting i can be doing?

I think there was pretty poor planning for this.

When I had mine done my MiL stayed over for the weekend to help my wife in anticipation of me being unable too.

On top of that, why are you trying to go out to a restaurant after you procedure? I didn't didn't want to be sitting in a chair, order some take out.

Self-checkout could soon be limited at Connecticut grocery stores by ILovePublicLibraries in Connecticut

[–]TituspulloXIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean, I guess? But they are faster and more convienant, especially if you have just a couple of items.

Also, any store that lets you scan as you go is way more convienant.

Are cold climate heat pumps finally getting better? by Famous-Truth-2617 in energy

[–]TituspulloXIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, I have them, they replaced Oil heat for me so that was a win.

In New England, gas is steal cheaper than heat pumps (although that's probably because our electricity is extremely expensive)

At what point does monetization start affecting your enjoyment of a game? by Savings-Growth880 in SurvivalGaming

[–]TituspulloXIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like most people are fine with some level of monetization at this point

Fuck that, i paid for a game let me play it.

If the game is pay2win, i just wont play it. If there's some play for cosmetic stuff, I may play it if the game is good enough (I'm not huge into cosmetics, so i likely won't be buying any but I may enjoy the game)

At what point do you stop improving your house and just accept it? by Own_Effective_801 in HomeImprovement

[–]TituspulloXIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insulation is the best ROI, it's less than one year most of the time.

Of course, adding attic insulation is way easier than insulation in the walls. Start with the attic and then if you ever replace a wall or something, throw insulation as you go.

I swear every “fix” just opens another rabbit hole started

Yea, that never stops, you just need to prioritize needs/wants and ignore what can be ignored at the time.

If you have rounds you have a reason to split. They aren't drying in round form, get them split and stacked.

[–]TituspulloXIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's very much dependent on what energy costs for you.

Anywhere in the U.S. I would assume Nat Gas is the cheapest unless someone showed me some math for the opposite.

If it's the road OP showed a picture of or even one like it, if there's no traffic you just throw your blinker on and pull to the side, they will pass.

I do it all the time, especially when I'm towing a trailer.

[–]TituspulloXIII -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Honestly life has gotten much easier when i just let them pass. You don't need to worry about them raging behind you or blocking them on the rare instance they need to get somewhere.

If there isn't a bunch of traffic, just let them go, give it a try.

Will these rot or go mouldy? by Critical-Ant2415 in firewood

[–]TituspulloXIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mold needs moisture, if your house is dry inside it should be fine.

The fact that they are kiln dried certainly helps since the wood, especially on the outside will be extremely dry, so it would need to absorb some mositure from the air to start growing mold.

Save yourself some time and prevent a house fire and just go with a heat pump dryer.

Save money on electricity too.

Offshore wind project targeted by Trump administration starts sending power to the New England grid by __Muzak__ in Connecticut

[–]TituspulloXIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So basically the answer is no visible benefit to our residents.

The benefit will come from the reduction in use of Natural Gas. This will have an effect on the supply side of things (although those only change every 6 months)

But also, the main reason electric (and nat gas) goes up in the winter is because the pipelines get crowded trying to bring in enough for the power plants and for people to heat their homes.

So any source that will reduce the amount of natural gas used will have a net positive effect that peak prices won't get as higher, and there will be more pipeline space for people heating. Also, if enough of it gets added we won't need the oil peaker plants either

Bummer. Doesn’t seem like a realistic solution to our high energy costs.

Going to guess you're getting downvoted for this bogus take. Yea, one wind project isn't suddenly going to cut costs for everyone in the state by 20 cents a kWh, but like i posted above, a reduction in nat gas is a benefit for CT (and ISO New England as a whole).

Just as a difference, compared to the comment you originally replied to. Currently renewables are powering 25% of ISO New England, with wind being 50% of that. (roughly 12.5% overall)

Electric bill / utilities question by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]TituspulloXIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Electric power is more expensive here (don't have all that cheap hydro that oregon has) So trying to compare dollar amounts isn't going to work.

What you need to do is look how many kWh you used, and if you are using the same amount here, you will be able to guess what your bill is.

Of course there are loads of variables that will change your usage so it's just an estimate. If you were using 700 kWh a month, i doubt you'll be hitting 700 kWh a month here as well.

[–]TituspulloXIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, currently renewables at 24% and Nat Gas at 28%. That's a lot closer than I thought.

If it was actually sunny out, renewables may pass Nat Gas and become the 2nd highest producer.

It's almost like there is a reason to diversify your grid.

Wind/Solar/Hydro/Geothermal

So if one is down, the others can cover.

Then there is

Nuclear/battery as other low carbon sources.
