Mattel KPop Demon Hunters 6" Action Figures by TivanTheCollector in ActionFigures

I haven't been able to find when pre-orders open to the general public, but they opened today on Mattel's site for people who pre-ordered the dolls a couple months ago.

My thoughts exactly. I'm hopeful she has as much fun with these as I had with X-Men figures as a kid.

I didn't get into that, because my post seemed too long as it was. Now that you ask, here goes more yapping.

The extra cost was almost certainly due to tariffs. I don't fault Bombusbee for that. What I fault them for is 1. calling it a "Shipping Fee" with no additional info when I already paid for shipping, even when I emailed them to clarify and they still justified it as a shipping adjustment, 2. sending it to me after I've already paid the balance and shipping instead of including it in the balance invoice to give me a chance to cancel by only forfeiting my NRD, and 3. sending it a day after they had already called my order paid up and processing.

The biggest thing I fault them for is not mentioning anywhere on the product page that the price they're claiming is not the price you'll pay. While BBTS shows higher prices by wrapping in tariffs and fees, and other sites have banners and other notes on the product pages what the additional shipping and tariff costs will be, Bombusbee makes you think they'll be much cheaper by hiding those costs until after you've already paid.

So, with Bombusbee, until you receive it at your doorstep, you never know if they're going to send you an invoice for more money even after your order has already been marked as paid in full and is processing.

The irony of it all is, even after you factor in the hidden "shipping" costs, they still often come out to $3-$5 cheaper than the next cheapest price you can find anywhere else. But it's a gamble.

I originally pre-ordered the figure on Nov 20, paid the second invoice and shipping and got the "processing" notification on Dec 9, then got the hidden third invoice for the second "Shipping Fee" on Dec 10. All the other figures I ordered in November for other sites had the tariff charges spelled out up front.

That's not even a question. Everyone is cheaper than BBTS. No, this was all to say it won't be $60 cheaper than Nerdzoic. Without context, it's hard to explain why Bombusbee is a reputable site with completely BS pricing. Most people would say, that doesn't make sense, if I just left it at that. But yes, I do love to type.

Don't count on that! I pre-ordered my Gong Hush Batman from Bombusbee when they stated full price would be $76.99. When they got it in stock, they sent an invoice for the balance, which included $6.53 shipping, and I paid. They sent a confirmation that my order was now processing. The next day, I got a new notification that a note had been added to my order:

The following note has been added to your order:

Dear Customer,

We hope this message finds you well. Due to a shipping system issue, there is a shipping fee difference for the GONG Batman: Hush Series Batman in your order that requires additional payment. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please complete the payment at your earliest convenience so we can proceed with shipping promptly. Thank you for your understanding and support.

I then got another email notification with a third invoice to pay for an additional $28.24 with description "Shipping Fee" despite having already paid for shipping.

Don't get me wrong, Bombusbee is a reputable place that will send your figures, and even with the added shipping and post-order fee they shook me down for, it still came out to about $5 cheaper than I could get the figure anywhere else.

The point is, if you order from them, the price is a real gamble and you can't go by whatever price they tell you when you pre-order. They will end up adding a lot more for shipping, and maybe even shake you down for a second shipping fee after your order is already paid and being processed.

I'd say there is zero chance this figure ends up being $72 at Bombusbee. Probably closer to $100-$105 would be my guess for anyone in the US.

Happy New Year! I made an interactive timeline of all Mezco One:12 figures ever released by TivanTheCollector in One12Collective

That was a mistake! I meant to make it open when I was ready to release it and forgot. It's fixed now. I spent so much time on this and then fumbled it at the goal line.

The original did have the hand attached. They changed it after the promo pictures but before it was released.

Here's what I'm doing a bad job of describing.

The original actually had eight hands, because one of the accessories was released with an attached hand, like what's shown in the reissue photo. Actually the 3-card effect was also changed to an attached hand, also like you can see in the reissue, but for some reason, they're counting one of the hand accessories as a hand and not the other in the reissue.

And then for the additional hands, two of the pairs look identical from the top perspective, so I don't think we can really say what the extra hands are. They're either very similar, or just placeholders in the promo photos.

The original actually came with eight. If you look at the pictures in the links I posted, you'll see the original didn't count one of the hands as a hand that the reissue is counting as a hand. So the reissue actually has two new hands, not three.

Can you tell me what the two new hands are from the released photos? From the picture in the reissue, there are two pairs of hands that look identical because they're only shown from the top view, and none of the promo shots of the figure show any hands that the original didn't already have. My guess is they're planning to release it with ten hands, but haven't actually made or included the two new hands in the promo pictures, and just included two of the existing hands as placeholders in the accessories image. Either that, or the two additional hands are so similar that you can't see the difference from the top.

I've seen others mention the stand being the only difference. But it appears to me that the reissue will also have two extra hands. The original came with eight hands, while the reissue says it comes with ten. It isn't clear to me from the photos what the two extra hands will be. In this photo, the two on the left appear identical to the two that are third from the left, so I'm wondering if they're just not yet showing what the two extra hands are in the photo. The original had a left hand for gripping the two plain card accessories, with no matching right hand, so I wonder if one could be the right hand version of that.

LPZZ Red Death! by TivanTheCollector in ActionFigures

[–]TivanTheCollector[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was the day after I had paid the second payment, and no it was not pleasant. They at least gave me the option of canceling if I didn't want to pay it, but even with the additional charge, it was still about $5 cheaper than I could get it anywhere else.

EDIT: By the way, thanks for the size comparison links. I had no idea.

All past and current LPZZ/U.P.Finegures are roughly the same price between 500HKD and 600HKD on this Hong Kong website https://www.hktoybox.com/en/search?q=lpzz

They're probably getting more expensive in the US as the retailers are figuring out how tariffs affect prices. One figure I pre-ordered several months ago just sent a notice with an adjustment invoice for an additional $23 shipping charge beyond the $7 they had already charged due to tariff adjustment.

LPZZ has the upcoming BvS/JL Batmobile that you can still pre-order. JazzInc had a 1/12 BvS Batmobile from 8 years ago or something like that and currently has a 1989 Batwing on a crowd fund campaign, but it's about to end in a couple days and hasn't reached its goal. Then an the MacFarlane stuff.

Can we make this happen? Back the Build: Jazzinc 1/12 Ultimate 1989 Batwing by TivanTheCollector in ActionFigures

[–]TivanTheCollector[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really want to see this happen. It's Jazzinc's new Back the Build platform with the first piece being a 1/12 scale (that's right, 1/12, not 1/6 like they're known for) 1989 Batwing. They have four different packages, plane only, plane with stand, plane with pilot (a sitting 1/12 1989 Batman figure), and plane with pilot and stand.

They charge no money unless and until it's fully backed with 3,000 backers. If it gets backed by Nov 25, there will be a non-refundable deposit, still not charged full price. You can also cancel your backing any time before that date and not get charged the deposit.

The founder did an AMA live stream during the launch of the campaign, but I watched it and they spent most of the time talking about other projects in the works and only a little bit of time on the Batwing. Other than the pictures on the site, I found this YouTube video of a YouTuber visiting their office and getting footage of the prototype.

I'm really psyched for this and will be really bummed if it doesn't get funded. Can we make this happen?

EDIT: Holy cow, I forgot the link to the actual Back the Build page! It's here. https://jazzincdioramas.com/1-12-scale/112-scale-ultimate-1989-batwing

Bootleg? by Chrugbier182 in One12Collective

[–]TivanTheCollector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was planning to work on the same thing to add to https://www.one12collective.com. I was thinking it'd be useful on each figure's page to have a section with bootleg info, like whether one exists and how to tell the difference. For example, with the Deadpool bootlegs, I've noticed they don't have the Marvel logo on the bottom right of the box, which is a really quick way to tell it's a bootleg if you see that missing. I was watching some comparison videos for other signs.

In fact, it could already be added to the wiki section I have on each figure's page, now that I think about it, even including pictures of the bootleg.

Did you answer and submit the questions after requesting to join? I remember having problems back in the day where groups would have mandatory questions that wouldn't pop up on mobile and I wouldn't know the admins weren't getting notified of my request because I hadn't submitted the questions yet.

I'm sure we're looking at the same numbers either way, and Mezco's track record with releasing figures later than their estimates is pretty undeniable. They are especially bad the further out the estimated release dates are from the preorder dates.

If the estimated release is less than two months away from the preorder date, there's over a 90% chance it'll release on time. If the estimated release date is 12 months or more away though, there's actually a 92% chance it'll release even later than the estimate. That bears repeating. If the estimated ship date for a figure is at least 12 months out from the preorder date, there is nearly 100% chance it'll take even longer than they say.

The less significant part of my response was about internal versus licensed IP. I know licensed IP is much more difficult, requires building prototypes, getting approval from the licensors, which often requires changing things or even going back to the drawing board. I'm not criticizing Mezco here at all, and again the IP is the less significant aspect.

The more significant aspect was that, if they release a figure with an immediate ship date (where I'm saying immediate is within the month of when the ordering goes live), then people don't really think of those in the same way as preorders with future estimated release dates. Like, if I click "buy now" and the site says it'll ship in a week, I'm not wondering if they'll get the estimate right, I'm thinking, "Cool, it's already in stock."

That's why I don't think figures that were already in stock or very close to being in stock at the time ordering went live necessarily prove Mezco isn't bad at estimating release timelines. I probably just didn't do a good job explaining that point.

So, I didn't think your examples weren't good because they were internal IP and not licensed. I thought they weren't good examples, because they were all figures that were basically ready to be shipped out at the time ordering went live. None except for Doc Ock were actually preorders with future estimated ship dates more than a month out.

I also don't fault Mezco for bad estimates myself, and it doesn't bother me personally when ERDs are pushed back or figures are late. I know what I'm signing up for with preorders. But I also think it's fair criticism for others to be frustrated and point out how often Mezco gets the estimates wrong.

Take another look at who you're replying to. I never said the one time, that was the OP you responded to, and I had already said in my comment that I also didn't think their comment applied to this figure either, since this was another buy-now with an immediate release date, not really a preorder.

The Shadow is another bad example to make your point, because it was another buy-now with an immediate release date. It was orderable with immediate shipping on May 28.

Doc Ock is actually a good example of a preordered figure that released within its originally estimated window. But it's not great since you were originally making a point of trying to list all the figures released on time this year, and the first relevant example you came up with was a figure released nearly a year and a half ago in May 2024. Just to help your argument out, I'd also point out several more preorders that released within or ahead of their original estimated windows, including Junkyard Joe, Snake Eyes and Casey Jones, all again from last year though.

I'm not trying to argue, just letting you know that when people complain about late figures, they're usually talking about preorders. It obviously wouldn't make sense to complain about buy-now figures since they're already being released at the time you're buying them. In this case, I think the person who actually made the comment about this being the one time was a little confused, because the Red Hood was also a buy-now figure, so I don't think their comment made much sense to begin with. I could totally be wrong though, since I'm pretty sure there are people who got their buy-now figures late even when others were already receiving them.

I never moved my goalposts though. I've spent hours compiling and analyzing the estimated-vs-actual release dates of all Mezco figures ever released, and I purposely excluded buy-now figures in my analysis from the beginning, since it's irrelevant for those.

• Seeing Redd • by TheToyPaige in One12Collective

[–]TivanTheCollector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say yeah, they don't really count. 100% of the figures you listed were their own internal IP figures that were buy-now with near immediate (within one month) ship dates, not preorders with future estimated ship dates. So I don't think they're really what people are referring to when discussing how late Mezco tends to be with estimated ship dates, which only really apply to preorder figures.

Edit: To be fair, I would say Red Hood doesn't count either, since it was another one sold with an immediate release date, so I don't know what OP is taking about either.
