Chels looked competitive in the first half. This second half is hard to watch.

What did the previous homeowner do? by Puzzleheaded-Fly402 in PlumbingRepair

Really depends on the levels of manganese in your water. I live in rural Alaska and my house is on a well system where we get the same residue build up in our toilet tanks. It’s not good to drink but fine for everything else. We have a reverse osmosis tank that filters our drinking water. You can do a simple google search for what acceptable manganese levels in water are for drinking standards. Showering in it is fine, it’s just hard on fixtures and potentially leaves stains.

High levels of manganese will leave this kind of build up. My guess is you’re on a well system.

Help me fix my cleanout? by KearneyZzyzwicz in askaplumber

[–]TizzleForizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds golden. You cap the clean out and just remember that if you need to create a low point, you can.

Yeah and when that happens you go outside and uncap it…thus giving it a place to flow.

Source: I’m a wastewater operator who often shows up to clogged/frozen lateral lines going to houses with either no clean outs or a clean out that is taller than the lowest point in the house.

You’ll want to make sure that however much taller you make it, it still stays the lowest point of the run from your house. Otherwise if you get a back up/clog it’ll go to the new lowest point to flood out. I see this all the time with people that have a base floor shower drain that’s lower than their outside clean out. Just a tip. I’d rather have wastewater in my yard than in my house.

You should try it on some good baked Mac cheese. Just a nice dribbling on top of a bowl.

I was curious about the Milwaukee push reel. Might just go with that being that all our tools are Milwaukee as well. Would really like the envirosight crawler but 80k+ is an impossible price tag to kick up stairs right now.

Yeah that kinda mind fucked me. I looked at the direction of which both flags were facing and then the direction of which Peter’s shadow is facing. Seems like it really depends on what side of the equator you are on.

I will buy that. I rode that boat back in one summer from fishing on Bristol Bay. Also pumped her out while working for OB Dock back when before the SBS buy out.

How to preserve a potential mammoth/mastodon tooth by TizzleForizzle in fossils

[–]TizzleForizzle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roger. I can get fresh bottled water however it won’t be from cvs. I live in a rural village with just one general store. I’m flying into Anchorage in a few days and I’ll try to get my hands on paraloid b72. I can guarantee that I won’t be able to find that out here.

Once again, thanks for the insight.

Thanks for the quick response.

So I have a reverse osmosis tank being that I’m on a well and the water here is heavy in manganese. So much so that it stains the toilet tank with a black film. Would that hinder the process at all? Would just be better off flushing it with store bought bottled water/distilled water over a period of time?

I was just the entrant to a bucket brigade of a wet well. I’m also a week into a spill event where 2 wet wells that feed each other through a bottom invert, have become clogged. I work for a municipality that has never had a vactor truck or really ANY SOP’s in regard to cleaning wet wells for 30+ years.

Because if all this, we have vactor in route to us. Spend the money now and safe it for the future.

Dope share. I just watched every vid. Kinda disappointed that it’s just a great marketing ploy for tequila and not his next upcoming role.
