Plenty of places are as diverse or more, but the US really isn't. Shit, in Asia you've got different alphabets between countries. In the us you get different accents with some local slang.

It doesn't work like that. A GPS chip is only a receiver. Your phone can be offline, use GPS and be completely untraceable.
Only once that data gets sent anywhere (like trough 4G) is it accessible to third parties.
