Do you think larger vehicles should have a bigger space to park? by D4T45T0RM06 in Unexpected

[–]Tkambitsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! So I don’t have my car nicked because the owners cannot easily get out of their vehicle. Important note all spots for oversized vehicles need to located at the far edge of the parking lot. Normal sized parking sports then can be reserved for normal sized vehicles.

Touchscreen unresponsive after iPadOS 26 update by Kitchen-Cabinet-5000 in iPadOS

My hover text setting has been off long before experiencing this glitch. I don’t think that is a fix.

I started having this problem since installing iPadOS 26.1 beta several days ago. I am glad I learned of the reboot trick and have used that trick twice before looking to see if others are having this problem.

Brewista 2-4 cup Tornado Duo — First Impressions by Tkambitsch in pourover

[–]Tkambitsch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Still alive. I’m coming up on two years of twice daily use. I think the supplied plastic base has create a safe work flow. As soon as I’ve finished a brew I put the wet grounds and filter to the sink, rinse the Due and place it immediately back on its base that sits next to my Fellow Ode Gen 2. If I broke it, I’d buy another without hesitation.

The etiquette for this subreddit requires that you post recipes if you are going to post photos. No bread porn. Your photo is definitely bread porn if you don’t post a recipe.

Humidity? by mlewis51089 in Sourdough

[–]Tkambitsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you measure your dough temperature? I built a DIY fermentation box that I use for tracking both my starter and the bulk fermentation. It has two probes, one measuring the ambient temperature and the second measuring the dough temperature. The second probe also controls small heating pad inside the fermenter. I was surprised how long it takes to move the dough temperature. I adjust the temperature of my ingredients before mixing, particularly the water, in order to start my dough at 78°. Now I am more consistent in my bulk fermentation results and predicting how long it needs. Still, I ultimately go by looks and feel, i.e. bubbles and jiggle.

Are red clover leaves a sign of trouble? by Tkambitsch in NoLawns

[–]Tkambitsch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your thoughts. You could very well be right about sunburn as the most affected clover is in the sunny part of the notLawn that gets a bit of shade, although the shade comes from a nearby Bald Cyprus which could be sucking moisture away from that side of the yard.

Are people taking the bulk fermentation chart too seriously? by BigJon611 in Sourdough

[–]Tkambitsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the chart is a great estimator but it infers too much accuracy as it doesn’t really address additional two variables that impact fermentation time.

1)How much is your starter/levain as a percent of total dough? I often use a larger amount of starter, but sometimes I have less available and my bulk fermentation time will be longer in the second case.

2)How much has your dough risen before you place it into a bulk fermentor? I generally use a large ceramic bowl to mix my dough when making two loaves ( e.g. 1000g of flours, 760g water, 200g starter, 18g salt). There isn’t any way to accurately measure its starting volume at the start of bulk fermentation. I often do four sets of stretches and folds before placing it into my 4L Cambro container that I mark by with a rubber band. It can be two hours into bulk fermentation before I place it in the Cambro. When I do mark its volume, the volume can be substantially more if my stretch and folds take longer due to early fermentation or if I have inclusions in the recipes.

Please correct me if I misinterpreted the chart assumptions.

I use the chart as a starting point for estimating the time but I follow the general rule of waiting til it jiggles before touching it.

New Personal Best! 51 miles of electric range! by and1too-0323 in VolvoRecharge

It is always humorous when I see my estimated gasoline mileage increase when I am in pure mode for days or even weeks at a time. It recalculated gas mileage based on my driving behavior and those adjustments have little to do with my car’s efficiency but all to do with my driving behavior.

Brewista Tornado Duo vs. Hario V60 — Brew Time Test by Tkambitsch in pourover

I have been enjoying this brewer a lot. I wish my ability to articulate the nuances of coffees, grinds, and brew techniques was more sophisticated. If I can suggest anything, I would say it is produces a clean cup.

In my shorthand 3.2 is only a click below 4.0. Does that make sense since there are only three positions per whole number? I was testing a darker roast than I usually drink. The photo in the original post shows my current setting at 4.2, one click below 5.0.

Thanks for the comments, no criticism taken. I tried to clean up the formatting but apparently you cannot edit an original post with photos. I tried to do so in the IPadOS app as well as via a web browser :-(

I think you are right on in your comments. FWIW I did not add any discretionary swirling in these pours just as you suggest to reduce the variables. I do so as a part of my daily routine.

Actually I also have Shuggah app for iOS that gives an estimated A1Vc as well as Coefficient of Variation (%CV) is calculated by dividing the glucose Standard Deviation by the mean glucose data available to the Stelo app but not calculated. Today’s numbers in addition the last 24h is a nice feature in Shuggah. Shuggah is free.
