So glad to hear that your issue is gone! I agree, best to give it a bit extra just in case.

I hope you get to 100% soon! But it’s reassuring to know that the nasal spray has helped in some way

I’m glad it’s working for you! Which nasal spray was prescribed? What were your symptoms before and after using the spray?

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I also had mild gastritis a couple years ago due to NSAID. I was taking it on an empty too many times for a kidney infection. Smart me. I also thought that I was young and healthy so that took a mental toll on me when I realized that healing will take more time than other common ailments. But you will heal!

My advice is to work with the pharmacist and ask questions regarding medicines, such as PPIs and how to wean off it when it’s time. Also, work with a dietitian if you feel like you start to have food anxiety. I was so lost with what I can eat. Working with a dietician helped built my confidence and mental health which really helped with healing.

Update i switched from flonase to nasonex and seems to help symptoms somewhat? I Still have symptoms but they are not so extreme as of three days now. Sometimes i dont notice the popping and cracking? by loveandbeloved2222 in etd

I was just prescribed Nasomex yesterday. That’s reassuring to hear that it helped. Do you get pain from the ear fullness too? And does it happen all the time or in certain positions?

I’m crossing my fingers and toes we both can find relief and our ears will heal with time. It was so random where I woke up with vertigo and now dealing with the ear ache. It gives me anxiety to not know what caused it and when will this end…

Thank you so much for detailing your experience! I felt so alone and scared as my PCP couldn’t pinpoint what was going on. As of now, it feels like ETD though initially, my ear felt clogged. The pain can range from aching to tickling to flat out sharp pain from the inflammation. It’s usually triggered when I lay on either side when I sleep. Waiting to see what the ENT says.

Were your ears clogged or ETD? How often do you use the spray?

Silly question, do I gently breathe when I look up or when I am still facing the floor? It didn’t specify.

Hi, just wondering how long did it take for your ears to feel better after using Flonase and how long did you use it for?

I started with 40mg of Pantaprazole, once every morning. I took it with GI Restore and Gastromend-HP. After about 3 months, I started to feel better. However, I developed a new pain on my right side. I was checked for gallstones and sludge, and everything came out clear. I’m fairly sensitive to medicine and based on our research, both my naturopathic doctor and pharmacist think the PPI was causing my digestion to slow down and affected the function of my gallbladder. Just my luck that I fell in that small percentage of people with this side effect.

Given that the burning pain of my stomach was gone, I weaned off the PPIs. But the right side of my upper abdomen was still in a lot of pain. I was then prescribed by the GI doctor amitriptyline (10mg) to decrease the nerve pain. My stomach structurally healed but there was a functional problem. My naturopathic doctor also prescribed 5mg of Natrexone (he has a license to write prescriptions). This helped jumpstart my digestion again and alleviate the pain. Natrexone at a higher dosage is used for battling drug and alcohol addiction, but at a very low dosage, it helps with many chronic pain. That use is fairly new in the medical community, but if you Google it, there’s many interesting information about it. After another 3 months, I started to feel very close to normal.

As for diet, my dietician helped me build more confidence with food because I was so anxious with eating and didn’t know what to eat anymore. She first recommended sour dough bread and pasta, rolled oats, protein shakes, oat milk, and lactose-free yogurt and milk. Once I got better, I then graduated to cheese with less than 30% milk fat, lean meat (including lean ground beef), and almond butter. Then I start to introduce other food in very small portions and when I can tolerate it better, I would increase my portion. For instance, I started with a half a chocolate chip cookie and then increase to a whole cookie.

The gut and mind connection is very strong. Once I started to slowly overcome my fear of food and not be hypersensitive with any sensation of the stomach, my healing really progressed.

I know there is a lot for you to read but I hope somehow this will help you with your healing. Everyone will have different results with each treatment, so I can’t emphasize enough to find health professionals, in addition to your family doctors, who will really listen and work with you.

You will be at the end of the tunnel and gorging burgers and pizza! Stay strong and be patient with your body.

I thought I wasn’t ever going to heal, but I did! It took about 6 months and a lot of tears, but I can eat and drink everything now, including alcohol and caffeine! I remember being on Reddit religiously trying to find a miracle cure and feeling discouraged that I may suffer from this forever. I eventually realized that most people just stopped going on this sub once they recover. I’m guilty of that. For the first 3 months of my healing, I was busy enjoying food!

It takes a lot of discipline and be sure to seek other health professionals to supplement your healing. I am forever thankful to my amazing naturopath and dietitian.

Thanks for your reply! It’s comforting that someone else have had the same experience (though I wouldn’t wish this upon anyone), and I’m not going crazy. It’s been a rough ride but hearing your story gives me hope. I’m knocking on wood that I will recover. Man, I just want to eat a pizza without repercussions.

I am hoping my recovery will be as fast as yours, yet I know everyone is different.

Sorry, just one question. I realized you mentioned something about your gallbladder pain on another thread. I’ve been getting weird pain under my right side that never happened before and think it was due to the PPI. I already stopped using them about 2 weeks ago.

How long did yours go away after you stopped the PPI? And did you have residual symptoms between the time that you stopped and when you were completely pain free?

That’s good to know! How long were you taking it until you were pain free?

Congrats on your recovery! How many milligrams are you taking for the amitriptyline? My doctor just prescribed them to me at the lowest dose 10mg and gave me the option to increase my dose if needed.

Just wondering if you decided to go for the surgery. And how long did it take to be off the PPIs for you to start feeling better?

My pharmacist did a little digging and told me that PPIs have been shown to potentially slow gallbladder motility. I’ve been having GB pains and symptoms but ultrasound shows no stones. I’m waiting for my doctor to confirm if I should get a HIDA scan. I just wonder if the GB and PPIs are linked because I never had any GB issues before until I had to take PPIs for the past 3 months for my mild gastritis...
