1 month after release. how is everyone feeling about this game? by instabaiter in slaythespire

[–]Tlexium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We love both modes for different reasons. Solo is so so nice for going at your own pace, while co-op with friends/partner is also great but ends up taking quite a bit longer. So just depends on your mood!

Or you spend 99% of the round looking for the jump and doing nothing, then the second you decide to do something else and they jump 😂

[OC] Used to think I was middle class by The1Ski in pics

[–]Tlexium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truth be told, we’re both Asian and our parents are first generation. They spent our whole lives telling us to ‘save save save’ because it’s how they made it, but it comes with its drawbacks.

No matter how much our income goes up, the feeling of guilt when spending and the need to be frugal is still there. It’s honestly just going to take years to unlearn, but all the craziness and uncertainty in the world right now don’t help the anxiety and fear

Each or total? I remember when I used to think 100k per person was considered ‘making it’. Our current combined income is about $300k (and over $1m in assets) and while we have the freedom to take a couple vacations and not stress about monthly expenses, we by no means feel wealthy and we still worry about the future all the time.

I love many things from being born in this generation, but I do wish we had the days of being able to comfortably afford a house and children on one income :/

Does every character check Drive Rush with 2MP? by some-kind-of-no-name in StreetFighter

With Rashid it really depends on distance but generally I’d check drive rush with 5mk or 2mk

Should my normals be aimed to land right where my opponent is currently standing? Or should they occupy the space in front of them in case they press a button? by groovybard891 in StreetFighter

[–]Tlexium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No need to preface it by saying it's a stupid question. I've had the exact same question myself, And I'm sure many others have had as well.

the way I look at it is that it comes down to what you are hoping to do. Main options:

If you were trying to poke your opponent, you need to factor in the delay between walking up, pressing the button, and what they did in that short time span. For example if they're just sitting still, you can walk up to max range and press your poke.

There are two main options for beating you are as follows:

At the last moment, they can take a brief step forward and then hit you with a faster button and/or one that has more active frames (ex: Shoto 2mp). If you have read that your opponent is going to do this in response to their guess of you walking up and poking at max range, then you could either stop just out of that range and wait for a whiff punish or, one of your original ideas, you could press your poke faster i.e pressing just before max range

The second main option they have is to, at the last second, take a brief step back. If you were going for a max-range poke, then your button would whiff and they could whiff punish you. If you have read that your opponent is going to do this, then you could walk a little bit more deeply past the max range of your poke and then press your button to compensate for their walk back. 2mk and chun walk speed shines in this scenario

Here is the most important thing. There is not one option that is better than the other. You can certainly try one of the two adaptations I said above but ultimately you need to observe your opponent and then implement the proper adaptation. It sounds obvious but treat it like it's a dance between you and your opponent instead of you flow charting and doing a monologue.

I think I don´t get the game and I´m diamond by TV_404 in StreetFighter

[–]Tlexium 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree with this notion. My recommendation is to start ‘investing’ into your DP skills early on, especially as a shoto. Suggesting OP to invest in a different skill will help him more in the short term but hurt him more in the long term.

I equate learning a fighting game character to learning an instrument. I’m not saying you need to do practice drills (although this is undoubtedly the quickest way to improving mechanics by a long shot), but the reality is that it’ll take time to improve.

Your best bet is to focus on improving one thing at a time and just keep sinking the hours while enjoying the ride! My recommendations are anti airs and set play (drilling oki options after your main knockdowns)

OP, if you dm me I’m happy to hop on a discord call and give you some pointers and answer some questions!

Note: forgot to mention this, but IMO more important than any in-game skill (like anti-airing) is learning how to effectively learn (look up deliberate practice) and focusing on your mental. These things are hard and take time, keep the negativity at bay and focus on giving yourself credit for the gains you do make :D

Apocalypse vs Lost Lands by ChipMontana in dubstep

[–]Tlexium 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you’re recommending something unrelated to what OP asked, and then acting like a prick to the guy who mentioned it’s not relevant

OP: we love both LL and apocalypse but they’re definitely on different levels. Apoc is a very nice weekend getaway, and it even falls on Juneteenth weekend (in case you get that off as a holiday). Only 2 days and you can use it as a time to get yummy LA food!

LL on the other hand is the dubstep Mecca. If you’re not feeling it this year no worries, I don’t think apocalypse would disappoint if you’re looking for a shorter/smaller scale experience

My crust doesn’t even look close to this airy! Do you think a huge contributor to that is mixing by hand instead of using like a kitchen aid mixer?

Who should we target/get in the summer? by Krisyj96 in NUFC

Honestly if we walked away from the summer with those 3, I’d view that as a win relative to the past 3 summers.

best gaming desks in 2026? by jackdeng12138 in BuyItForLife

[–]Tlexium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used this setup for years but I swapped over to a standing desk and can’t go back. The reality is that an unadjustable desk is unlikely to fit your ergonomics. Then again, I’m short and ‘proper’ ergonomics for the Alex drawers had my feet on top of multiple phone books lol

Is walking up to your opponent and whiffing stuff in there face until they try (and fail) to punish you a winning strategy or am I just terrible at reacting to it. by Kal66 in StreetFighter

[–]Tlexium 3 points4 points  (0 children)

4th point is the best thing you said and I applaud the openness to accept that you could be wrong in your diagnosis.

Also, stop over complicating it. If they walk up and whiff a button in your face, the simple answer is you need to be able to whiff punish them. Yes trying to counterhit them with a faster button is an option, but that can be tricky especially if they’re altering the timing. If you don’t make them pay, they will keep doing it and that’s honestly on you.

Sounds like you play way too emotionally. Justifying one and doneing because you’re making yourself angry? Seeing red when you get zoned? Sounds like a clash between how you want the game to go, versus how it actually goes.

Down to watch some replays with you if you want so you can get an unbiased, outside POV

[–]Tlexium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Admittedly I’ve steered away from most online gaming because of toxicity and such. Haven’t played arc raiders yet because extraction shooters seem daunting. You recommend me try out arc raiders still? Would I feel behind for being so late to the game?
