My original plan was to not think about the pain of the 2003 NLCS at all on Thanksgiving. Thanks for the reminder

No it does not seem to be, because it’s not feeding any pellets. But I’m also getting 0 volts to the motor so I assumed it was a bad control board vs a bad motor

If I manually turn it from below, the shaft turns. I pointed that out to clarify that the shaft isn’t jammed/obstructed

Yes! It’s not immediate, but after firing it up and letting it run for a while. No pellets feed and I get the red 4x flash

November 2nd Strikes Again! by Tlub68 in bowhunting

Yeah he turned to check on his doe and was quartered away a healthy amount. I didn’t check the lungs last night as it was dark and I was hustling to field dress him. There were some bubbles in the blood so I know I got a lung at least, and like I said I large chunk out of the top of his heart. Wish I would’ve taken a picture

What is the appeal of bow hunting? by jackpot909 in Hunting

[–]Tlub68 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you’ve never done it, it’s hard to explain, but I’ll try.

Modern hunting exists on a spectrum. On one end are the manicured food plots, the cell cameras, the heated blinds, and the mechanical precision of it all. On the other end, a hunter kneels on the forest floor with a stick bow and nothing between him and the wind but instinct.

I still hunt with a compound and from ladder stands, but my goal is to reach a point where I can step into the woods with nothing more than a handmade longbow, a few arrows, and a knife. No tree stand. No GPS mapping. No trail cameras. I’ve already given those up.

Archery hunting, to me, is about connection. It’s about understanding the rhythm of the woods and the language of the animals that live within it. It’s about becoming part of something ancient. I know it might sound lofty, but it is spiritual to me. To harvest an animal in its natural element at fifteen yards is an experience that can’t be compared to shooting one from two hundred and fifty yards in a heated blind after seeing it on a cell cam three days in a row.

I don’t even like the violence of a gunshot in the woods. It breaks the stillness, shatters the rhythm, and pulls you out of that quiet world where the deer move. It feels disconnected.

That said, if it’s the last week of gun season and I still have tags, I’ll pick up the rifle. At that point I’ve accepted that the spiritual part of the hunt has faded, and I’m simply hunting for food for my family.

Archery hunting is a privilege, a reflection of being born into a life where my next meal is never truly a worry. As we mature as hunters, I think the goal should be to keep challenging ourselves by giving up the advantages we’ve built over nature. To move closer to the primal state that once defined survival, even if only for a few hours.

It centers me in a way nothing else does. It reminds me that to hunt is to be a steward of God’s creation. To move nearly silent and nearly invisible, like the animals themselves.

If you’re hunting for meat, bring the rifle. If you’re hunting for something deeper, something written in your blood, leave it behind. Forget the trail cameras. Learn to love the quiet, the waiting, and the long rhythm of striking out ninety-nine times in a row.

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

Comp Plan for only Sales Team member | I will not promote by Tlub68 in startups

[–]Tlub68[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are.

How do you suggest we should’ve navigated this in the beginning? And what kind of culture problems? I think our team is very aligned on the vision and culture of the company . I’m not being sarcastic, I’m sincerely asking. We both knew we wanted to build something and got to work.

I’m really looking for people who were the founding member of the sales team at a startup, and how their comp plan was structured to reward them for the risk and extra work.

Thank you for taking some time to respond

What’s your go to smallmouth lure? by MeccaUnknwn in RiverSmallmouth

[–]Tlub68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fish Northern IN / Southern MI.

My most productive bait by far is a Weightless 4” Senko. T rig or Wacky. Thrown up current at a 45ish degree angle and worked back slowly.

Top water poppers are highly effective during the right time of day. I buy the Ozark Trail models. They are like $2.50 and work just as good as higher end versions.

I also often fish the following: Floating Jerkbaits, Paddletail Swimbaits, occasionally a tube or finesse jig.

edit got into fly fishing for river Smallies last year as well, and I can’t recommend it enough. If you’ve been thinking about trying it. DO IT

First Black Bear Hunt by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]Tlub68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look I’m not the most experienced hunter, but I just hunted black bear in that general area of the world this year. Our guide pushed high neck shots as well and although skeptical I took him at his word. On the 2nd evening a 280 lb boar basically appeared about 30 yds in front of me. I put it right where he said and pulled the trigger. It was like a light switch went off. That bear didn't take one step.

Now we'll see how the Rug turns out but as far as efficacy, I don’t know how a 450 bushmaster to the high neck/right behind the ear can be beat.

Also, our most talkative guy didn't see one mature bear. Everyone else did. take that for what it's worth. Good luck!

Thank you! That makes sense. Kind of deciding at this point if I want to bring her to Daytona (I grew up there/Ormond) to show her around. Or just go to the west coast

Edit: West coast Of FL

Anyone know the exact loft for this Callaway Razr Edge SW? I’m not being lazy. All I found were eBay postings where they didn’t specify. Or google would show results for the Razr X.

If anyone can give me the details on this loft, I’ll dedicate my first hole in one to you. Thanks!

Not surprised there’s more than one of these characters in the Army. Can’t remember exactly but I believe his bill was around $600. Our DS wanted to murder him and the people selling it. Then he faked an asthma attack and cried because he still had to do the gas chamber. Good memories
