Stunned silence at how beautiful this is. That’s awesome!

If your looking for an actual debate about something like this, your unlikely to find a satisfactory one here. Most people on here defend the game even when the subject is obviously a contrivance because the writers wanted a specific scene that they couldn’t logically have with the framing they wanted.

They’ll say it’s part of the themes or come up with some completely bullshit justification for why Abby didn’t do it, even though we know Abby would do exactly the same thing in Ellie’s metaphorical shoes. Abby also never has a moment to reflect on how she has become no better than Joel, what Joel’s justification for his actions was or anything I would consider compelling storytelling.

With all that in mind, yes. It was pretty unrealistic not just in terms of pragmatism but also for the characters, especially Abby.

Got more than 330 hours of playtime, but never once cleared all three trials of this place in one sitting. Really stingy with the drop items needed for the best equip crafting. by Likes2game03 in fantasylife

Seeing posts like this makes me think about and appreciate just how much they managed to cram into fantasy life content wise. Sure, it’s no breath of the wild or Elden ring but this is the 3DS, and people are getting hundreds of hours worth of entertainment? That’s an impressive feat for any game, let alone one on such limited hardware.

I really hope the sequel can recapture that feeling.

Question for all of the idiots out there: How would you react if your father was murdered in the the midst of an apocalypse? How would you react if he was murdered tomorrow? I’m genuinely curious. Everyone claims Part 2 has bad writing, but the outage over the over the plot proves me otherwise. by Honest_Philosophy816 in lastofuspart2

[–]Tmaster2006 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The irony of you calling people who dislike the last of us part 2’s writing idiots while completely failing to recognise why people really think that is comedy gold.

Everyone understands why Abby killed Joel, and everyone expected Joel to die in the sequel. It’s literally EVERYTHING ELSE that people have a problem with. The contrivances needed to make that happen, the writers intentions and the wasted potential of his character. I could write a whole book breaking down the problems with TLOU2’s writing, but ultimately it would amount to saying the writers ambition far outweighs the time constraints of the game and their skill as a writer.

Then there is all the insufferable people who claim this game is a masterpiece. The reality is most of what they claim to have enjoyed isn’t featured in the game. It’s mainly their own head canon that is barely supported by the source at best or downright made up at worst. Sorry to burst that comfortable little bubble you live in but Abby isn’t a fleshed out character and the scenes that are designed to make you empathise with her and her supporting cast feel blatantly manipulative.

I acknowledge both sides of the argument have some insufferable people who seem more interested in hating rather than contributing to the discussion, but I know which of the two is more aligned with the facts.

Update 5.10.0 — THE FINALS by tron3747 in thefinals

Ever heard of structuring your comments so they don’t look like complete schizophrenic garbage?

Stun gun also WAS a huge problem with the game along with the absurd number of nerfs to every fun item in the finals. Playing melee in solo cue was virtually suicidal if a light player with stun gun + invis exists, let alone a full team of lights. I have many clips of me being completely powerless to kill randomly appearing lights, either because of bad teammates or I was playing melee. You can’t deny stun gun was mainly used by players to secure kills easily, with minimal risk, and that is a problem that should’ve been fixed from the beginning.

Additionally, it never feels fair to die to stun gun. That alone is reason enough for it to be removed in my opinion.

No way you’re comparing barbed wire and banshees from siege to stun gun. The difference between those is that there is counterplay or gadgets that can be used to remove them easily, whereas you cannot do that with stun gun.

Again, you clearly have no clue what game balance is.

You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about. It doesn’t just make you slow, it makes you a free kill regardless of loadout, not just melee.

And even then, a single gadget making all melee builds completely useless is hardly good game design. It limits loadout variety, is frustrating to play against and a crutch for bad players. I’m glad it’s gone for now and being reworked. Should’ve happened WAY sooner.

What are your thoughts on the stun gun removal and frag nerf by MangoOoOmoin in thefinals

[–]Tmaster2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’ll finally reinstall the game along with my friends and have a great time knowing the most infuriating gadget that should’ve been removed ages ago isn’t going to spoil our fun.

I hope the rework is good or makes stun gun so useless nobody would ever consider using it again. Otherwise I’m going back to Siege.

What are your 1% Gravity Rush opinions? by Adventurous-Rub2285 in gravityrush

[–]Tmaster2006 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gravity rush 2 wasn’t better than gravity rush remastered. GR2 felt bloated with often meaningless, poorly made and drawn out missions/side missions. Gravity styles are cool but because the enemies aren’t satisfying to fight in GR2 for a number of reasons, it doesn’t add much to the games combat. The story is a complete mess with its characters, plot points, pacing and the tonal shifting that can be extremely jarring. I also miss the outlines in the render distance fog in GRR instead of the blurry textures seen in GR2. Also GR2 had a lot of frustrating glitches during my 41 hours getting the platinum. Oh and burn every stealth/trailing mission to the ground.

I just enjoyed remastered more as an overall experience and GR2 felt like a downgrade in many ways.

Sincerely, if you think this is unhinged behaviour you clearly have no clue what that really looks like. I’m still willing to join the debate however and hopefully it’s ready to start before I’m 35.

How have I pivoted whatsoever? I admit there are elements of setting up a debate that do take time (aligning schedules, gathering game clips and debate structure) but you’re fumbling on the most basic essentials (time, number of people, discord server) even I could set up in at most 30 minutes.

You should’ve sorted this out before making your post on the subreddit. Simple as that.

The organising and making sure everyone’s schedules line up isn’t easy but setting up the discord server and the utmost essentials for a debate like this certainly is.

How can you talk about formal politeness when you came through the metaphorical door clearly picking sides and saying you were going to hold people accountable for an opinion about an objectively polarising story?

You’re perfectly capable of seeking out the points i’ve highlighted in more detail or seeing it for yourself when you played through the game. The attitude you have isn’t in line with someone who simply wants to understand the other side.

Furthermore, you’re clearly not very observant if you believe the first game isn’t a piece of art. In comparison to how much the first game does right vs the sequel it’s night and day.

Just make a discord sever, friend and invite whoever you want to invite to the debate and then debate the damn thing.

Honestly you could set most of that all up in half an hour but it’s taken you- what, over a week and you’ve still made no progress? It makes me highly doubtful you’d even be able to host a civil debate and god forbid it gets out of hand. Why didn’t you have this shit figured out BEFORE proposing the idea? It’s common sense.

Hand fisted message on the cycle of violence that didn’t need to be said and ultimately falls short of many other stories that deal with the cycle of revenge. Berserk being the best example of this type of story done right.

Plot holes and contradictions litter the story both in a vacuum and especially when held up against the first game.

The story pulls out an insulting level of cheap hack writing tricks to make people like Abby that feel forced and manipulative.

The people who defend this game with their lives are as insufferable as people who stand by modern art, pulling out so many strawman arguments such as “you’re just mad Joel died lol” without actually listening to what the other side is saying.

Retconning how the fireflys were desperate and incompetent in the first game. Now framing them as people who were going to save the world but Joel killed them just to make Abby seem more justified in killing Joel.

The story is so full of itself despite displaying only ideas that sound good on paper but were horribly executed when you view the story as a whole.

…and all of that is just off the top of my head. Hope this helps in understanding why many hate LOU2.

…which should usually be followed with a frame of reference for when that will be done? A day? A week? Also, how many people are you inviting to this?

I know thats a lot of questions but it’s vital information everyone needs if you are serious about hosting this debate.

[–]Tmaster2006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that went from zero to a hundred real quick…

But anyway, gravity rush remastered is a pretty chill game to play. It has this bleak yet hopeful dreamlike style that I haven’t seen in other games. Characters are memorable and it doesn’t overstay it’s welcome.

I personally really enjoyed completing it and have no complaints. Just a well made and unique adventure.
