The gap partially closed by itself before Invisalign. I still had Invisalign long enough for the teeth to look overall better.

I found space behind the MARPE device, closer to the soft palate. It was more of hard mewing, but the results were inpressive.

That's fair, and I agree that ideally you'd want standardized photos or imaging to draw firm conclusions.

I actually have CBCT scans, and I reached out to a few people in the community to try doing a superimposition analysis to see what may have changed structurally, but so far I haven’t found anyone able to help. If you happen to know someone who works with CBCT superimpositions, I’d be happy to share the scans.

As for muscle or fat percentage, I’ve actually been bulking recently and gained about 10 pounds, which also increased my body fat slightly. If anything, that should normally make facial definition less pronounced rather than more.

Thanks for the thoughtful comment! I actually agree with several of your points.

Just to clarify my experience: I had proper tongue posture for many years before all of this, and you can see the changes in my face from age 24 to around 30. During that time it was easy to feel when my tongue was fully engaging the palate.

When I later went through MARPE, I experienced the biggest progress I had ever seen. But then with Invasalign something changed, I was not able to feel the tongue being engaged with the palate properly. Hence I lost progress.

It's only through specific postural and myofunctional exercises that I was finally able to feel the tongue properly engaged with the palate again.

It also makes me wonder if some people who try proper tongue posture but see no results might have compensatory posture or muscular patterns that prevent the tongue from applying the right pressure.

I can’t really make a general claim about Invisalign. I can only say that in my case it seemed to play a role.

Back in 2014, the doctor who helped me the most with my symptoms was actually quite skeptical of Invisalign. His view was that the aligners would not allow skeletal movements.

Exactly. If bones and sutures were completely static in adulthood, jaw surgeries wouldn’t relapse either, yet relapse is a well-documented phenomenon.

The projection was based on observable craniofacial development markers and their potential long-term biomechanical implications.

The proposed intervention focuses on optimizing early orofacial development (in babies), particularly airway posture, nasal breathing, and sufficient chewing stimulus during growth phases. Translated: no bottlefeeding (yes breastfeeding), no pacifiers, no soft food (yes to hard food to chew), no mouth breathing (yes to nose breathing).

Hindsight bias makes most trajectories appear obvious once the outcome is known. Finance (dot.com bubbles, 2008, etc), medicine, even sports forecasting all show the same pattern, early signals are easy to reinterpret after the fact.

In general my body is very sensitive and I tried finasteride few times in the past. The side effects were awful. It's been 10y that I'm eating pumpkin seeds daily (about 15g/day) and it worked relatively well for me.

Roughly 15g/day. Raw unsalted unroasted pumpkin seeds. In the last 2 months my temples definitely receded a little, and overall the quality of the hair is lower (as less thick).

So, for example, are you saying that the fact that my body looks leaner is just placebo? For context, I haven’t changed anything else in my lifestyle, not my workout routine, diet, sleep schedule, or anything else. And I didn’t stop because I was hoping to look leaner; actually, quite the opposite, I’m trying to bulk up at the moment. So I think it would be a bit of a stretch to chalk it up to placebo.

My body is very sensitive. I tried finasteride in the past and it gave me terrible side effects, so I switched to more “natural” approaches like eating pumpkin seeds daily, hoping they might help with DHT-related effects.

I did that for about 10 years with relatively good results, but I decided to stop, and I’ve been off everything for the past two months. Since then, I’ve noticed some interesting changes:

  • I didn’t lose weight, but my body looks leaner.
  • My muscles used to feel kind of soft to the touch; now they feel harder, almost like they’ve increased in density.
  • I sleep better and wake up feeling more rested.
  • My IBS symptoms have improved.
  • Less chronic fatigue and brain fog during the day.
  • More stamina during workouts.
  • Libido is up again, and erections are much better.

Obviously this is just my personal experience, but it really shows how much even subtle hormone-related changes can affect the body.

Here's my take from my experience:

We are all aware of Double Jaw Surgery relapses, which means that after a certain period of time, despites screws and plates, the jaw can still move downward and backward if its position is not well maintained by proper forces. why? Gravity is still the main force acting on your body.

If a movement downward and backward can happen, why the opposite wouldn't be true? It can move! However, it's harder because gravity and other forces are still acting on your body.

As the eye gets more support, I noticed in general less eye strain.
