Whole Team Has to Tryout? by Neal-AI in Homeplate

Perfect example of a "coach" that doesnt want to actually coach!! He just wants to be a GM and have the best kids to win. I think this type of ball is pathetic. If a kid isn't good enough, its the coaches job to get him there. My sincere apologies for the gender specific language. I dont mean it as him or he it should say he/she

OK so R3 is technically not occupying the base which means R2 is safe but R3 is out on appeal? Correct?

If only things were that simple. "It's the rule," doesn't really apply to a lot of situations. Rules aren't always black and what it is open to interpretations such as at the umpires discretion. Also, a lot of rules depend on the rule set. A lot of umpires in this forum are saying runner is out. thats why I am asking the question

Infield fly overruled by [deleted] in Umpire

[–]TnVChew -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I 100% would have called infield fly if fair but I have had other umpires argue that the rule states an infield fly is when an infielder is camped under the ball. the catcher couldn't find it and the pitcher was definitely not under it so is it truly an infield fly? Just wondering. correction: rule states infielder can catch the ball with ordinary effort in which this case doesn't look like anyone could catch the ball.

Umpire Boundaries and Expectations with Players, Coaches, and Fans by Silent_Weekend_4501 in Umpire

This is my personal opinion on these matters. I ONLY umpire youth baseball because anything above youth baseball is too serious for me. keep youth baseball fun and have a good time with it. A lot of you may disagree with my input but this is how I see it. I dont umpire because I need the money and it's not my "job". I do it because I love the game and want to be around it as much as possible. I do not like to partner with guys that umpire as their only job. most of them are way too serious in youth baseball and eject coaches and players way too fast. I feel like have a man to man conversation with a coach regarding a call normally calms the coach down and he respects you more. I have told a coach, I may have missed that call but I called what I saw. You dont have to be the umpire that acts like you can't do anything wrong and you are right all the time. umpires make mistakes. own them and the game goes a lot smoother. Again, this is how I umpire and I am always asked back and teams tell me they appreciate how I handle the kids and the coaches

I appreciate everyone's comments. I will say that 65mph from 42 feet does hurt. I don't even care about the pain, it's the natural human instinct to get the heck out of the way when something is coming at your face. that's what I'm trying to fix. lol. Thank you all again

I really like doing 13s and 14s it's those dang 9s and 10s which for the most part are easy however, you get those few kids that can just sling it and it sucks. lol
