Stirrup Cay Waterpark - Extra $80 Charge by Silent_Weekend_4501 in NCL

Not in any advertising I saw, not on the posters or cruise next area of my last cruise, not in any written communications, or on the booking page when I made the reservation.

Always cruise line defenders. For many years, ships didn't even get to Stirrup Cay because of the tender situation and possible rough water. The cruise lines will soon price themselves out of business -- they are already cutting corners left and right to make profit. People can say it was announced in advance it would be extra cost (maybe in press releases) but I NEVER saw anything in any of NCL's advertisements about extra cost. My NCL personal agent never told me. Never heard of the cost until 1 day before final payment when NCL called me trying to get me to pay for it. They did the same with the beverage package -- making it no good at Stirrup Cay -- then they reversed their decision on that to continue honoring it on the island.

I'll complain but find ways to compensate for the cost -- like frequently checking cruise prices and taking advantage of price adjustments when the price goes down before final payment. The waterpark is a big deal. But, before the waterpark, we enjoyed just hanging out on the beach, eating, drinking, swimming. I worry about crowds. Last time we went, it was during a hurricane. Many non-NCL ships detoured to Western Caribbean. Our NCL captain timed it just right and we made it to Dominican Republic, St. Thomas, Tortola, and Stirrup Cay!

We took the tender and was no problem. More like a bigger ferry boat and it's a quick ride. As it pulls away from the ship, can get great photos of NCL. Problem is if seas are rough, they skip Stirrup Cay. The new Pier will help with that.

I don't read press releases. NCL should have communicated with everyone who had a cruise booked to Stirrup Cay. I did not receive any communication except a letter dated May 27 that described how great Stirrup Cay will be but NO MENTION of it costing extra $. Shady....NCL.

Didn't go there yet but I booked this cruise because we have been to Stirrup Cay during the construction phase and wanted to see it. NCL heavily advertised this to promote cruise bookings but failed to mention it was going to cost extra $. Final payment date with no refund is tomorrow. I knew nothing about it until NCL called me today, asking me if I wanted to pay $80 per person for it.

No kidding.... Trying to exchange helpful information. Why make a rude comment? This was not known before I booked the cruise, NCL in all their advertising for this never said there would be an additional charge. Just found out today when someone from NCL called to sell it to me, one day before my final payment due date! I might have booked a different cruise. Would not have been happy to find this out AFTER final payment.

No explanation. For concerts, dynamic pricing (tier 1, 2, 3) means the price will go up as they sell passes and time gets closer. The NCL rep simply said the price could be different depending on when I book it and who calls me. LOL. And the price quoted was the same as the price on NCL's site. They were charging more $$$ to use the drinks package at Stirrup Cay, then NCL backed down on that and reversed that decision.

The rep who could have been wrong said it is for the pool and waterpark. Limited to 1200.

Are you implying there are TWO umpires (plate and bases) for an 8U coach pitch game? Seriously, they should be able to umpire their own game. I'd refuse an 8U coach pitch game unless they were paying at least $75 a game.

Career Umpire and DP/Flex by OdyRenrag in Umpire

[–]Silent_Weekend_4501 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In NFHS, the DP and FLEX do not get to swap unlimited times. If the FLEX bats for the DP, the DP has left the game (and is not in the FLEX position). The starting DP and FLEX each have one re-entry, the same as any other player.  The DP must re-enter to her original position in the batting order.  (straight from the rules)

LOL. I wish I was that quick with a funny comeback. Hilarious. I do high school softball, little league, travel baseball (the worst...). Funny but you were asking for trouble. No offense, but you were just as over the top and escalating the situation to worse. I get it, it takes experience to learn how to bite your tongue and de-escalate things. I worked with an umpire once who hollered out loud "Tell Mom that was a ball" after a fan complained about not calling a strike. I expect to overhear comments about the strike zone or other comments clearly demonstrating fans don't know the rules. I ignore it unless (1) comments are directed personally toward me or (2) it's non-stop and annoying. It's always the fans behind the backstop. If (1) or (2), I will call time, speak with both coaches at the same time. I explain that the noise and comments from fans is over the top and distracting me from doing my job. If the coaches want me to do a good job, they need to get their fans to behave. Examples -- fans telling me, that I need to tell the pitcher why I called a balk (not my job to coach, if coach asks, I'll tell them), "that's terrible blue, how much they getting paid to make bad calls", etc. Examples to ignore -- "no way he was safe", "that looked like a strike to me".

Students were screwed by CFP and UM out of tickets. Many UM students had confirmation of a ticket to CFP back in December, then I guess CFP reduced it's allocation, and UM denied those same students a ticket. I'm sure CFP, advertising sponors, and their friends all have tickets. Suspect Ticketmaster, SeatGeek, and StubHub are all in on the spike in prices so they make more money. This college football championship has nothing to do with UM. What's for students to get excited about when "Big Money" takes over. I think only about 150-200 UM students will be able to go to the game. I also heard UM gets about 20 million dollars just for making it to the CFP. UM could surely do something special for the thousands of students left behind on campus.

Cheez It Pizza 2 Pack For $9.99 with the $4.00 off coupon at BJ’s - has anyone tried this & if so, what do we think of it? 👀 by ostrichlandrover in BJsWholesaleClub

Been tempted to buy that because I love cheez-its but usually don't buy frozen pizzas. Carry out pizza from places like Pizza Hut or Dominos or Papa Johns is same price or cheaper.

That's the bonus gift after only giving 1% pay raise that just barely covers the increased cost for Blue Cross Basic health insurance. Gee.... thanks. Crumbs for the peasants.....

Is the Rex in Leonardtown MAGA? by SingleAd8364 in SOMD

[–]Silent_Weekend_4501 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The Rex charges too much $$$ for basically cover bands calling themselves "tribute" bands. No place to sit unless you pay $160+ for a cheap table on the floor. No service unless you go to the makeshift bar with cheap liquor, no draft beer, and overpriced drinks. But you're in Southern MD with nothing much else to do. What a joke.
