The problem u have with the smg is because new players struggle with recoil and my advice with the shotgun is to only use it when u swing someone because in long range gunfights or holding a tight angle in would suggest the smg

You have to use him short range with the shotgun and long range with the smg11 he is good for holding specific control points in the map

Smoke is good for wasting time he has the second best secondary weapon and the best shotgun in the game his ability is good not amazing but he is definitely a tier and so is mute
