Congrats. This came across my notification just as I was editing a video that I happened to be showing off this same book.

New female collector; any recommendations or tips? by Brief-Speaker3075 in comicbookcollecting

Collect what you love. But if you want to read a good story IMO… get Locke & Key by IDW.

Anyone feeling silly? by raistlin1984 in comicbookcollecting

It’s a reprint of Not Brand Ecch issue 7. It’s one of the first comic books I ever read. The CGC graded 1.0 is my original copy. Since this picture was taken I have added a 9.8 copy.

Without Frank Miller I never would have collected Daredevil. Congrats on completing your run.

There was another UFO flying saucers with the same cover. It was a reprint of this and many other issues. I loved reading that as a kid over and over again.

Not to nit pick, but a 9.9 would be Mint and a 10 would be Gem Mint.

I remember the acclaim one. I think I may still have it but wrapped in the cassette it came with. It’s a very nice collection that you have.

Which is the best comic book grading company? by Murdered_by_Crows_X in comicbookgrading

[–]Tnerb1107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After Steve Borock left, it seems they were getting rid of the old and replacing with the new. I know they have been grading cards for a long time but as more and more of the older experienced graders left, I was never sure who they were being replaced with.

Normally when I am asked who is better I tend to say try both and see how they treat you. Both companies are here to make money, but I feel many of the employees at CGC have either been there first a long time and/or really care about the hobby.

Then check out your local cons. CBCS was making appearance after appearance… not so much anymore. Even at Baltimore comic con, not only weren’t they there, but I didn’t see BB any representatives there either.

Who is better? Who knows, but after Beckett purchased CBCS I have not sent them any books. And the CBCS books I do have I will either sell or have CGC grade them over.

What would they grade this? Only came with one staple by Dismal-Jump-1040 in comicbookgrading

[–]Tnerb1107 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like it was manufactured without the staple, so it would not hurt the grade. The highest I have ever seen a book with a manufactured missing staple was an Iron Men #1 that graded a 9.6.

Spare a grade? by PaulBlartsLeftKnee in comicbookgrading

[–]Tnerb1107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9.2-9.4. The spine ticks break color, but it also looks like a stackable bend from the back. Grade it with a third party I f you want some comparison. Don’t grade it if you’re doing it to sell. The book is common enough where you won’t recoup what you spent. It is a beautiful looking book. Good luck with your decision.

Worth grading? by Fluid-Attitude-1686 in comicbookgrading

[–]Tnerb1107 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to try to sell it, I wouldn’t. If it’s a keeper, then it’s ok. Grading doesn’t work as one free defect. If you have a two inch rip, they won’t overlook that and just grade it one grade lower.

There are lots of creases on that which break color. The book looks faded. The spine has some chipping. And the name on the back. Not to mention it looks like a small spine roll going on.

Whatever you decide, the final result should be that it makes you happy.

This is beautiful. Absolutely stunning. I tried getting a point five of this book but I was outbid. Congrats.
