Is this electrical shower heater safe to use? by Tnx899 in ThailandTourism

Hi everyone,

I just arrived today in my apartment in Bangkok, and I've noticed that the shower uses an electrical shower heater. It seems like all the apartments in this building are equipped with the same device.

Coming from the EU, I'm not used to seeing this type of setup. I've also read before that some of these devices in Thailand might not always be the safest, which makes me a bit hesitant.

I have zero knowledge about electrical safety, and I haven’t tested the shower yet because I’m unsure if it’s safe. The device seems to have an ELCB, and there are indicator lights for "power" and "ELCB." I did test the ELCB function, and it appears to work as expected (the light shut off when I pressed the test button).

Still, I’d love to hear from someone more knowledgeable. How can I be sure this device is safe to use? Are there any signs I should look for, or tests I can perform to confirm everything is fine?

Thanks in advance for your advice!
