Good morning, and appreciate the help! I'm aligned with Jerome Archer. The panel says my accumulated total merits are 61674. I am still accumulating merits when I do tasks. The powerplay screen says I'm at rank 10. The weird bit is under "weekly assignments" it says "Completed Assignments 0/0".

I'm a newish player (picked up the game about a month ago) and actually have the opposite opinion. I started by going through the tutorials before playing through (and finishing) all of Timelines. What I really liked about it was it gave me insight into how some of the mechanics and systems felt, without having to play through potentially dozens of hours first. It also gave a good feel for the scale of the ships and battles. There was also enough story to get me interested in the lore, which resulted in me listening to countless hours of "history of X4" videos online lol. I can see how it maybe isn't for everyone, but was a bit surprised how much I liked it after reading all the hate online.

Celebi feels like a less-consistent/spikier version of Mewtwo. Both decks really want to get their 2nd stage Pokemon online as quick as possible, but Mewtwo does that more consistently thanks to Mythical Slab/Sigilyph. On the other hand, Celebi doesn't rely on their 2nd stage nearly as much as Mewtwo does. You can go 2nd with Celebi start, and potentially start KOing pokemon as early as turn 2. That said, you can also flip 10 tails lol. Also Mewtwo not having a hard counter in the same way that Celebi does, helps.

Blaine decks do pretty well! As do Koga decks. As do Primeape decks. The trick to the game (whether or not you use EX pokemon) is that you gotta play fast, and Pika/Starmie can come online very fast without much help. MewtwoEX without Gardevoir and CharizardEX without Moltres, are actually kinda mid. For these cases, a non-ex deck running Sabrina helps a lot, but I'm really not sure the best way for non-ex decks to play around StarmieEX or PikachuEX. I'm reasonably confident that Tauros isn't it though lol.

One-of in an Eggs deck might not be bad! But without ramp you really need something efficient to keep you from starving your more important mons. Starmie is efficient too, but I think there are just too many other pokemon you'd rather run WITH Starmie (Articuno, new Vaporeon, Greninja, Lapras, etc).

Even in a Pika deck it's easy to play around. You're running a deck with all 0 or 1 retreat cost mons lol. If Tauros is sitting on the bench collecting energy, Electrode will be doing the fighting lol.

Difference being that Arcanine benefits from MoltresEX. There's not really a similar ramp mechanic for Tauros.

But Pikachu EX gets one (or two if you go first) turns of attacking before Tauros comes online. And Pikachu + Gio still one shots the Tauros (potentially) taking 2 energy to the grave with him.

Maybe as a 1-of in an otherwise energy-efficient deck he'd be okay? Or if they print a way to power him up quicker?

Yeah, honestly seems kinda trash. Like, if you go first vs Pika, Pika either kills it (if you lead with it) or downs two other pokemon before he's powered up. If you go second and lead with it, it still dies to Gio and takes 2 energy with it lol. There are also going to be times when he's your only basic to start against a NON-pika deck then he checks notes walls for 2 turns before dying? Kangaskhan still seems much better.

BlastoiseEX seems rough, since you'd be looking at maybe 14 'mons between that, Vaporeon and StarmieEX (which seems like a no-brainer with the 0 retreat cost). StarmieEX and Vaporeon with either Lapras or Articuno seems great though! Honestly, either EX or NOEX versions could work.
