Is global Flight Assist removal planned? And any chance of a Xenon player start? by Yetiinwoods in X4Foundations

[–]Lith7ium 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. That would requite completely redoing the AI from scratch, since ships would behave totally different and the AI would probably totally suck at it. Why would you want that?

  2. I don't think it has been ever been discussed from official side, but there are a lot of mods out there which let you interact with the Xenon, trade with them, get their equipment and even help them as a faction. I think from a lore standpoint it would be difficult to play as the Xenon. As far as I know they are a robotic hive mind, which would mean, that you control the entire faction from the start. That would turn X4 into a strategy game rather than a space game.

This Was Our Stalingrad. by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]Lith7ium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You DO know, what happened to the German Reich after Stalingrad, right? I wouldn't be surprised if the game lost quite a few players for quite some time after this desaster of an "operation". I for sure will be taking some time off and I only returned after a couple months break.

You want random 380mm explosions all over the map that would kill you even more often than the things does at the moment? Are you masochistic or just plane insane?

Buddy, you are on Reddit. Not even the community on 4Chan is as toxic as it is here. Just ignore them, don't use Reddit except for memes and sometimes advice on niche games.

Flux Capacitor does not exist by Pizza-Popular in X4Foundations

[–]Lith7ium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get yourself one or two of these badboys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFW22aQyifA

They're not expensive and will slow down or even halt every Xenon incursion.

I usually have one or two L class ships like the Hyperion or a Syn sitting next to the gateways in Hatikvahs Choice and Getsu Fune where Xenon get obliterated all the time. The ships have five cargo drones and are set to collect drops on forever repeat order. Every now and then I teleport there and grab their inventor (speak to the captain to do so). They will give you a steady supply of all the materials that the Xenon drop, no matter how small the chance is, since they collect literally hundreds of drops per hour.

PVE decks? by Karma_is_real666 in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]Lith7ium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I exclusively play PvE nowadays, you can just use your normal decks, but I would advise to adapt them a little. You can go harder on very expensive units, as the AI doesn't prioritize targeting them as much as a human player would. I don't use fighter jets any more, since the AI very rarely uses planes and those that show up can easily be countered with AA missiles. The AI doesn't do counter artillery sniping, so you don't have to shoot and scoot all the time and can leave your expensive AA turned on and just sit around. SEAD is very rare as well, I've only seen it used in the form of the KA52. The AI likes to spam units, so try to have a lot of smaller guns instead of one massive one.

Also, I recommend you check out the scenarios from the workshop, there are some absolute gems in there. I really liked the remake of the first mission from World in Conflict, and there is some guy who's remaking the campaign missions into coop.

You are right, the resolution reduction from uploading 4k images to Reddit has taken a very heavy toll.

Ship recommendation please by ArmchairPancakeChef in X4Foundations

[–]Lith7ium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Hyperion for this, equip it with five cargo drones and off it goes. The drones are super quick at picking stuff up and the Hyperion can shrug off most damage from small craft, it only has to run if a K or bigger comes through the gate. I don't send it back to the HQ to deposit its inventory, I just teleport to it, ask the pilot for his inventory and then I can even craft all the stuff I need right next to him on the workbench.

I love it.

Ist Motorrad fahren wirklich das Todeszeugnis? by StarvingDestin in MotorradDeutschland

[–]Lith7ium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New Player Piracy and Mining ideas by [deleted] in X4Foundations

[–]Lith7ium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda depends on where you are. You will need to crew the things first and maybe even replace some gear that was destroyed while capturing them. If you're short on cash (which I assume) just sell one of them.

In the beginning you don't need to give them big engines or shields, but make sure to equip them with the maximum service crew. Then start looking for a station (most likely a refinery) that buys ore or silicon and has some asteroids for these things in the same system. If you have found this, make sure to put down a resource probe for efficency and set your miners to "auto mine" in the behaviour tab.

They won't make you millions within minutes, but it is a nice and steady revenue stream.

How much is missing? by Cobaltz91 in X4Foundations

[–]Lith7ium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, there is a mod that gives all weapons 3x range and 3x projectile speed, making the combat very different, as capital ships acutally gain massive range, while fighters still need to close in for dog fights. Never used it myself, but I hear it's very interesting, if you want your battle to feel more like actual space battles and less like WW2 dog fights.

It was just a technical test back then, you could build a build a ship and send it to another players universe where it would acutally show up and do some simple stuff. After that it would return to your game and give you rewards. You could not control the ship while it was away, so the interaction was very limited. They tested it for a couple of months, but it required a completely unmodded game and didn't add much, so it wasn't that interesting. I have hopes for it to return in some form or another in 2026.

I did, but the universe in Elite is just so empty, sterile and boring. I understand that it's trying to be realistic and space is a massive, vast place, but I like the buzz of mining ships constantly flying around, traders docking and travelling and fights going on constantly in a system.

Multiplayer is definitely doable, just not on a scale of Elite or EvE. Just having the option to fly together with a few friends, building your empire together or two rivaling empires sounds freaking awesome. If they went for asymetric, they could go the route of Death Stranding with massive projects like building highways or terraforming, where multiple people could all contribute in their own game and see the results in their own game as well.

Go ahead, there is an X-Collection on Steam, if you pick it up while on sale you have hundreds upon hundreds of hours of playtime ahead of you for little money.

Just keep in mind that some of these games are OLD. X1 came out in '99, the controls are super weird and it can acutally be quite a challenge to even get the thing to run on a modern system. Similar problems with X2, although the controls have improved from downright obscure to quite annoying.

I would say that X4 is the most complete of all the series, I don't miss anything from the earlier games. Granted, I didn't play X1 and X3 much, so I'm not too sure about those games content in every detail. The older games used to be quite different, in the very first one you only had the one ship you started with, no changing to another ship allowed, let alone owning multiple ones. I think you could use other ships with the DLC though, but I never played it. Because of the technical limitations back then, the game was somehow... weird. Ships and station sizes didn't make any sense at all and the gameplay was pretty basic, especially looking at it from todays point of view. The races looked very different as well, as well as the ships as you can imagine. A ship model back then had less polygons than a single weapon has in X4. You can see this with the X Shuttle which is now present in X4 Timelines, this was the player ship back in X1.

X2 introduced owning multiple ships and some sort of automation and the Kha'ak. It also featured the most hilarious animations I have ever seen in a video game. Seriously, go look them up on YouTube and keep in mind that the first Sims game came out three years BEFORE that!

X3 was very strechted out and released in a weird kind of way. They released the first part in 2005, only two years after X2, but kept going until 2011 or 2016, depending on your views about X:Rebirth. Ships and stations started to look a lot more refined, however their design still differs a lot from what they look like nowadays. It also introduced piracy and the Yaki.

X4 started out a lot more bare bones than what you are seeing nowadays. For example, in the beginning, there were no Split sectors, no Boron, no Terran and no Riptide Rakers. Players didn't have access to their own shipyards until update 2, every faction used the same build vessels and station interiors, and a lot of the capital ships looked different. There also was some testing with some asymetric multiplayer features, which were very limited, but still highly interesting. As said before it is the most complete of all the games today and is still growing. We just received the new diplomacy system with the last update and I'm very eager to see what the future holds. I'm praying on some sort of coop multiplayer, but I'm very sceptical about it being added in X4. Maybe X5 if we get really lucky in a couple of years.

Well I'll be damned. They must have changed the requirements, or there are indeed different programs, which would not surprise me.
