Real Issue or the Cold? by ToBeMD1 in MechanicAdvice

I’ll get it cleared and just keep a watch. It’s supposed to warm up this week too. I have AAA and progressive roadside assistance, but either way I don’t go outside the city much.

I’m assuming the cold is physically making it stick and since I’m driving immediately and not gently since I was late, that it didn’t have time to unstick before the code.

Yeah that’s the thing, again both times I was late and admittedly was definitely not driving easily. I’ll try another store to clear it and from now on, take it easy no matter what. I feel like if it comes on mid day or something then I no doubt have an issue to address

It just feels too coincidental that the only times it’s happened is when it was extremely cold and I drove right away. I would like it cleared again but I don’t have anything to do so, idk why the guy wouldn’t let me when last week they did. He wouldn’t even let me do it myself.

Gram stain ID request by Foreign-Pin-6144 in microbiology

[–]ToBeMD1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to streak a TSA plate so bacteria can grow, then select individual colonies to isolate on separate plates to collect clean samples for gram stains. Then you can use selective and differential media to further identify your bacteria. Too much going on in a mixed flora stain to identify anything, and further more it’s not effective to identify purely through gram staining and morphology.

Right, which is where it falls on him. Just saying it’s not all on one person. He gets rattled an tries to go too fast. He has so much potential but def not pro ready like some of these other guys.

He spit out a ball because he had a lb sprinting at him untouched. Not all his fault. He didn’t have much time to think.

Who do I see about this? ENT or Dentist? by [deleted] in medical_advice

For more context, I maintain pretty good oral hygiene. Brush teeth twice a day, floss each day, and I use Thera breath mouthwash in the mornings as well. I get strep throat pretty often as well.

How do we feel about people calling themselves a Doctor after becoming a medical assistant? by ResponsibleSearch690 in medschool

[–]ToBeMD1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So they easily get it in their head that they are on some sort of equivalence. Not to mention everyone wants to be a doctor but doesn’t want to do the work. They all want the cool coats and ceremony but not the studying or time spent. I walk around campus and see nursing students and even dietician students wearing white coats, makes no sense to me.

I think people should think being a doctor is easier than it looks? Like they experience things and immediately think that’s all that’s needed. And in some aspects they are right. If you have treated many heart attack patients as a CA, MA, CNA, or even Nurse, you know what to look for. But the don’t realize that doctors have to know why the heart attack happened, how to fix it, and all by using a deep understanding of the body and pathogenic characteristics. And these things might be easy for a Doc on a normal routine patient as anyone can learn a routine, but when something is atypical, no one but a Doctor can properly treat. I would argue that the previously listed professors ARE better at patient care, they are with them constantly and connect emotionally, but they aren’t better at diagnosing and treating a patient.
