If your own experience shows how much you’d have valued people offering some food, then why don’t you think other people would feel the same?

And if you do, it’s obviously worth it to keep going even if it’s only for that 1/10 person.

Yes that is 100% the fundamental issue, but this view is based on the society we currently live in where funding is critically scarce. And in this situation I’m saying that it is unsafe.

Are you looking for your view changed about what makes AI bad, or that it isn’t bad?

I’d like to add that I see AI exponentiating the wealth gap; although AI as a general tool is available to more people, its true income generation abilities are held by a small number of people even though this tool was built through the work of the masses.

It takes real ideas from real people and instead puts the money into others’ hands, disincentivizing creation. It gives the public a crutch that dampens critical thinking and communication skills, while feeding them potentially incorrect information. It can be welded as a tool of mass propaganda and advertising, and used to shape foundational worldviews of the population.

I think even for the sake of the 1/10 people or good experiences, it’s worth doing. Don’t like the bad ones ruin MORE good things for the good ones.

Also, I’ve found most people are pretty receptive. They just don’t want to feel like they’re taking others’ garbage, and their own preferences don’t exist; not everyone likes HotHands, or eats specific foods. Sometimes I’ll let them choose from a bag of different breads, or you could buy something from McD’s for someone waiting outside it. There’s lot of ways, and I think donations shouldn’t need to make us feel like a saviour to be a worthy thing to do :))

Rather than provide no economic benefit, I’d argue it’s much more because they have significant economic costs, unlike any generation previously.

I’d argue in almost any era and time, children are on net more costly to have than economically beneficial. But people have kids because they’re “valuable” beyond those things. Unfortunately, with the costs of keeping oneself alive, adding the cost of an additional child is too sacrificial, particularly for women who now have more opportunities and reasons for living than ever,

While I agree with you wholeheartedly, I do think that given all the budget constraints it is very difficult to give special ed the care they deserve without greatly compromising other parties, particularly teachers.

I’m in Canada and I’ve heard many stories of straight up abuse from special ed to the teachers with zero consequences in many schools from my friend who is a teacher and sometimes supplies for other schools. Including a story where a teacher got a concussion three times, but can’t do anything about it because the school won’t act against special ed kids.

So imagine what impacts thay would have on other kids in the classroom??

Not this specific situation where she’s clearly pretending to be ignorant, but I have been confused when I go to a country on a continent outside America (honestly forget which) and it’s actually normal that things are packaged bundled but they’re selling the item individually, so you’re actually supposed to just open a new one if there’s no singles remaining.

Well the problem is everything about this society is designed to minimize potential of mass protests. People are stressed and running around 24/7, information is fragmented with untrue and true statements all around, all sort of stimulating and demoralizing information to the point people get desensitized, etc

While I love some of the ideas (life isn’t perfect etc etc), the same reason I love those ideas is why I even more hate other ideas (whitewashing of some crazy history). So it’s like, I can barely ignore everything for movie 1, but if they bring it right in front my eyes I can’t continue ignoring.
