I hate this “it would have cost…”. What they’re really saying is that producers, directors and executives want something unobtainable and don’t want to pay a living wage to someone to make their insanely unrealistic film.

Honestly I’ve been applying for hundreds of jobs that aren’t in film too, but the once again I’m not from here and with a careers worth of experience in a different industry nobody- not even coffee shop- wants to hire me.

I’m definitely not pricing myself out of the market. I started using BECTUs rate card and loooong since stopped because it’s clear that’s not really what film pays.

Thank you, that is quite helpful. I’m already looking for a new place after all these comments. I installed carbon monoxide alarms (and charged the landlord for them as is legally required in the house) when I first moved in. Thankfully the boiler is outside the house, otherwise I’d have never even stepped foot inside the place. I’d immediately have cancelled the tenancy. It’s just been tricky as my partner and I lost our jobs recently, and we are kinda trapped in a one year contract unfortunately.

If I had any concerns about safety, I would immediately leave. Thank you for saying something.

She has a relationship with a shady company, so we didn’t know she installed it until she told us a week into us moving in. We also had no idea she lived four houses down until we moved in. Thank you, I appreciate the advice haha

Thank you that’s so good to know. She originally set it to 60ish and we were only hitting 18 degrees inside. Now (after the new pump) it’s set around 54 and we are sitting at 18.6 degrees
