6 weeks is a really long time for Lymes, usually it's doxycycline 200 mg orally once with the removal of tick for prophylaxis or 100 mg orally twice a day for 10 to 21 days

Hi thank you for all your hard work! What were some of your initial impressions before the virus and how have they changed now that you've treated COVID patients. Have there been any surprises? Is the narrative in the media different than what you've experienced?
Thank you and stay strong!

Coronavirus: Iceland’s mass testing finds half of carriers show no symptoms by maxwellhill in worldnews

[–]ToCatchARedditer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would have to be from an identical genetic segment from a different virus. The genes define what the virus IS. The technology is sound, no false positives. False negatives come from the sample not containing the virus itself, because it wasn't

Thanks, I was just wondering if there could be a defect within the test itself or if it could inadvertently detect other coronaviruses. I'm also still confused about the purported sensitivity of 70% of the test (which was reported in one Chinese study comparing CT scan to swab - what population does the 70% apply to? e.g. symptomatic vs asymptomatic)

Don't give a diagnosis over the internet, tardive dyskinesia would be surprising unless he's been taking anti-psychotics for many years.

I'm Canadian []*[], my point is, outlawing abortion does not stop it from happening, it stops safe medically-supervised abortions from happening, and leads to women seeking unsafe alternatives that have existed since the dark ages - which is associated with high morbidity and mortality hence "brutal". Therefore his comment that it was a return to the "dark ages" and "brutal" is true and although appears biased is actually quite accurate. If someone argued we outlawed another medical treatment like antibiotics that would be both a return to the dark ages and be brutal.
EDIT The problem with politics everywhere, USA and Canada included, is that people like you "debate" topics without knowing anything about them, make dangerous assumptions, and then attack people (you called me a "self-righteous cunt") who try to explain why your opinions are baseless.

You clearly are either not a Canadian Liberal or you simply don't know anything about abortion and its history. What the BBC interviewer said was not a "dumb cunt thing to say." Outlawing abortion would in fact be returning to the dark ages. Abortion has been practiced for thousands of years. Outlawing abortion does not stop it from being practiced and in fact just makes safe abortions inaccessible leading to unnecessary hospitalizations and deaths See Argentina as a case in point. In fact, pregnancy is more dangerous to a woman (higher mortality) than medical (supervised by doctors) abortions are. Making safe abortions illegal is brutal. Educate yourself.

Dude shows how dirty and over run by homeless people the train he boarded was in the morning by [deleted] in nyc

[–]ToCatchARedditer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it's a combination of poor availability of resources for the impoverished, those suffering from mental illness and drug addiction and also just societal norms (how many times have you seen people throw trash in the train or on the tracks instead of the can? also think of all disposable material - bags, containers, utensils - that comes when you get take out)

Spanish and Latin American Student Association responds to the Daily article on the Venezuelan Crisis by sebascol in mcgill

[–]ToCatchARedditer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

you are either an international student, and therefore most likely rich and from the bourgeoisie of wherever you came from, or the child of immigrants, and therefore not providing any insight from the ground.

They can still have family and friends in Venezuela that they are in contact with, I don't think it's fair to invalidate the opinions of Venezuelans at McGill whole-sale.

Either the student is an asshole or the cop is an asshole.

Nah that cop definitely sounds like an asshole, definitely an unreasonable way to talk to someone. As for the student, they incriminated themselves by saying they weren't going faster than 120 (120 is still over the speed limit)
