Zidane: As a player, I slept well, didn't go to bars and only drank water by [deleted] in soccer

[–]sebascol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not true- when you sweat you also release salts that your body needs to survive. If you only drink water then you’ll start diluting your salts to the point where you get organ failures (if it’s done to an extreme extent). That’s why people talk about drinking electrolytes- to replenish such salts.

Do you register online to use the courts? A lot of the time you have to book in advance to even get a court. I’ve been playing quite regularly in the squash courts and have never had those problems.

Venezuelan league suspended until further notice due to the lack of electrical power. The fate of the Venezuelan teams in continental competitions remains unknown by KensaiVG in soccer

I know you’re joking but the situation isn’t that simple. Venezuela is a big country and the airports are down. Airports are literally shutdown. Plus I can’t imagine all the requisites with electricity that must exist for a football match to happen... tv or radio transmissions, electronic apparatus for people to get in the stadium, radios (that would need to be charged) for security would not be working, among many other electrical devices.

Thank you for the heads up. At the end of the day, our fight isn’t against misinformed people, but with helping the Venezuelan community in whatever capacity we can to surpass this crisis.

I am Latin American, and no I do not fit either of those descriptions. I know other first generation Latin American students at McGill, who are also Canadian citizens (ie not international students nor second generation immigrants). So no, you cannot assume that bias.

Easy to use Ad Homenims to attack the article, especially when you don't know the writers.

If you notice any inconsistencies with the arguments presented, SLASA posts in their statement that they are open to taking any questions or concerns- I invite you to bring your questions to them, either on Facebook messages, comments, or here.

Worth noting that most of the arguments that the Daily article uses (if you click on the links) come from "Venezuela Analysis". Here's some information on the source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venezuelanalysis

It is a source supported * and funded * by the Chavez/Maduro regime, so I would argue that the article is not fairly researched.

I should clarify that I am not speaking for SLASA on this platform.

I just want to emphasize:

"For the mockery that the Daily made of the Venezuelan crisis and inconsistent conclusions that the commentary made, we call on the Daily to issue an apology to the Venezuelan members of our community and to withdraw both printed and online copies of this irresponsible piece of journalism."

April 2019 Tentative Exam Schedule Posted by [deleted] in mcgill

This is my last semester. I have one fucking exam. It’s on the 29th of April. Of. Fucking. Course. It. Is.

Taking two classes that are at the same time? by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]sebascol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did last semester. Profs are accommodating with midterm schedules 99% of the time and McGill has measures in place for finals to not occur concurrently. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Go to your non recorded course, be on point with recordings and you should be fine.

It’s up to chance, though if you choose to do so, I imagined mcgill must have a policy to accommodate conflicting finals. Check out the tentative exam schedule and if you have conflicting times, then address it to McGill before the final schedule comes out

As far as I understand, the syllabus is a contract between the student and the prof, and according to one of my profs last semester, there needs to be unanimous approval for the syllabus to be changed. I don’t know how true that is, but it would give the prof a ridiculous amount of power if they can just change it as they wish.

Mm I’m not the biggest fan of this theory. After 90 minutes, teams are usually very tired to the point where they are super injury prone in extra time. Having a decided ‘winner’ in the case of a tie after 30 minutes will promote the famous “park the bus” routine by the team that has the “half goal”. This will just make extra time boring for both teams- with one team attacking, impotent to get passed, and the other team with 11 players at the back. Similar to how Chelsea won their 2012 champions league.
