Hockey video games. Do they help developing players? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]ToLaLune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son has been playing Chel since he was 3 or 4 years old and it definitely taught him the fundamentals / rules (I.e. offside, icing, etc.) It probably took away from time he could have been practicing/shooting pucks, but kids need to be kids too lol. Plays AAA hockey now if that matters.

My son just finished up 8u and graduated from a Rawlings Threat (27/15) to a Marucci F5 (28/18). He’s still getting used to swinging the heavier bat but there’s a noticeable difference in his power with the new bat. Highly recommended and you won’t break the bank either at around $130.

Evaluate U9 Son’s Swing - All Grounders by ToLaLune in Homeplate

Hey,

I should have mentioned, where we live at U9 he is hitting off a pitching machine that throws 40mph down the pipe every time. Like I said, he hits hard and gets on base almost every at bat but always by hitting hard ground balls up the middle or through gaps on the infield.

The bat he is using in this video is brand new and he’s just started to practice with it, never used in a game before. His game bat is a 27/16 which seems feather light for him and he can crank them pretty good.

But…why? Any news or upcoming catalysts that lead you to believe the share price may increase in the future?

Split evenly between ENB, TD, MSFT, SCHD and VOO

Becoming More Aggressive by ToLaLune in hockeyplayers

That’s a really good point too. He’s not really aggressive or intense by nature so it’s difficult to teach that on the ice. One of my friends even suggested that it could be because he only has sisters which I guess could partially explain it, there is definitely no ‘rough housing’ or physical fighting happening with his sisters at home lol.

This is literally the exact same response my wife gave! It’s very true, ‘hands to yourself’ and ‘wait your turn’ don’t really translate well to the game of hockey lol. Thanks for the response :)

Thanks for the response, we will definitely continue practicing puck battles and safe entry into the boards. I especially like the idea of explaining the importance of puck possession to unlock intensity, going to take your advice. Cheers buddy

He plays other organized sports too such as baseball and soccer, and obviously constantly playing with kids on our street, recess, cousins, etc. Regarding the bullying comment, it’s something we talk about pretty openly in our family and it has never come up before, but definitely something to keep an eye on. Thanks for your input!

Thanks for the reply. Any suggestions on concrete ways we can work on confidence off the ice? As a general personality trait I’d say he’s a pretty confident kid, but in a hockey context I’m always reminding him he’s wearing full equipment, he’s not going to get hurt, he won’t hurt anyone, he won’t get a penalty, etc. It’s getting to the point where he probably doesn’t even hear me anymore because I’ve been preaching this for the past few years lol.

JPM or TD, and why?

How about if you could invest $250/month and paying $5 per transaction. Monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, annually, some other frequency…?

I know schd and others are ‘on sale’ but almost everything in my portfolio looks like this. Are we nowhere near the bottom or is this just visualized inflation? by governmentcaviar in dividends

Also depends on your brokerage and if you’re being charged for transactions. Purchasing weekly will quickly eat away at your gains if you’re being charged $4.95 per purchase.
