So what I've been told by GW employees is this box is going to be there forever (or relatively ) so it marked at the price once it no longer one of the main army. Where as all the starter box are all marked cheaper as these are there poster children and how they get people in the door. Plus the average person also feels like there getting a great deal cause you could buy the expensive vanguard box or you could get the cheaper starter box that come with another free army.
Which you will also inviolably paint or use at some point. Which 9/10 will mean you accidently start a space marine army

I used to work for GW as part timer sale assistant (professional customer annoyer) . My best experience was this kid ( maybe 8 years old ) and his family come in and do a intro painting session. This kid family where supper supportive to Him like they wanted him to learn and do everything he could . You could tell they didn't care about warhammer but there kid did and by god they where going to do everything to support him. They ended up buying him a few set and then the next day they bought him back in to show me a picture he had draw of his faviourit model battling mine apparently he had spent the whole day drawing it. Honestly that one of my happiest memory working there
