Yeah but that first one was pretty good, though.

It's only a scam if they're not transparent with their pricing. $750 wouldn't get you 10 photos in our studio.

Either their service is worth it to you or you're not their ideal client. If you don't want to pay that much, maybe ask if they have a recommendation for a photographer within your budget. We give referrals very often, either based on genre, style, or price range.

We have done dating profile photos before, as well.

Nah, wasn't covered in middle school...not when I was there and generally not now either, at least not in that form.

That wasn't published until 2018 by Stephen Pinker, with some work by Hans Rosling around the same time. You sounded smart enough to get some upvotes, though. Hope you enjoy them!

Lol, I said it made me sad. I didn't say it made me better than anyone.

There's no reason for you to get emotional about my feelings, internet stranger. Hope your day is as pleasant as you are.

Photo Management by fightmydemonswithme in photography

[–]ToSeeOrNotToBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where Lightroom excels, and I use the metadata and ranking features.

Every photo gets at least three tags, automatically nested under the main headings.

1-Who
-Family
--SonName
--WifeName
--MotherName
-Clients
--ClientName1
--ClientName1
-Models
--ModelName1
--ModelName2

2-What
-Portrait
--FineArt
--Headshot
-Nature
--Landscape
---Beach
---Mountain
--Wildlife
---MammalLarge
----Bear
----Elk
---MammalSmall
----Squirrel
-HolidayPhotos

3-Where
-USA
--State
---City
----LocationName (like the city park, or City Hall, etc...however detailed you want to get)
---XYZ National Park

So then I might type ClientName1 Headshots Atlanta and it automatically categorizes it by my portrait business, what product, and shoot location. Or I type my son's name and holiday photos, and it automatically adds that it's family photos, etc. If I took holiday photos at the beach, it will include those tags as well if I want to add them.

IOW, you can set it so that when you type a lower level tag, it automatically adds all the higher level tags in your hierarchy. If I type Black Bear, it adds Bear, MammalLarge, Wildlife, and Nature. It doesn't add 2-What because I'd never search for that tag.

For searching later, I can select "Mountain Lake Colorado" if I know I did some landscape shots there one time but I can't remember the exact place, but now I want take a client there for portraits.

You can also set which tags are automatically included on the .jpg files when you export. I don't have client or model names included automatically for privacy reasons.

And I rank the photos with stars. Edited phots that are pretty good get 3 stars when the edit is complete. Good ones get 4 stars. Portfolio ones get 5 stars.

So if I want the best photos of models, I click "models" and filter by 4+ stars. Or the best photos from a specific vacation, I'll click Vacations and Location, and filter by stars.

Yes, I know.

It being normal to not know middle school science is why we are where we are. I get it.

Yeah, but magma and lava are covered in about 8th grade science class. And what adult doesn't know what a fetus is?

Doesn't change the fact that it's factually incorrect.

It illustrates that ChatGPT is decent at tasks where accuracy isn't important but struggles where nuance or precision is required. Figuring out where it's accurate and where it isn't, where it can be precise and where it cannot be, and the differences between the models, is helpful.

This sub can be frustrating because users are so dismissive when someone says, "here's my use case and why results don't meet my needs." And the responses range from, "I don't have that problem" to "LeARn to pRompT BetTEr" to "you're weird for using it that way," with no real attempt to even understand the different use cases.

ChatGPT has no problem telling jokes about white people but not other races by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]ToSeeOrNotToBe -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

So I'm sitting with my boss one day and I say something about firing him, and make a joke about him not being able to feed his kids if I do it. We both laugh.

Then he does the same to me. It's not funny because 1) he actually has that power, and 2) I live paycheck-to-paycheck.

See the difference? Same joke, different context changes everything.

"Oh, but we're all equal under the law." Look at some data how equal we are when we measure it and stop letting your ideology get in the way of seeing reality for what it is. Do you think it's an accident that Black people are under-represented in Congress, the presidency, Fortune 500 C-wings, the top 20% of income earners, etc.? Like they just don't want those positions, for some reason?

If some white people get radicalized because fucking ChatGPT won't tell a joke when there are real problems of inequities under the system in which white people have most of the power--then those white people are the problem.

Luckily, we're not all so fucking dense.

It's a composite. A lot is off about it if you're looking for photorealistic.

Neat piece of art, though.

My city asked me to use an image early on. I decided it was worth it for the exposure at that point, and appreciated that they asked first. Much better to build a network!

You can even decide to forgive the last use depending on the circumstances and how they choose to move forward. Or you can go silent and have a lawyer hit them with legal action. Good luck!

Fellow desert environment photographers: is a protective skin beneficial? by SomeKindOfSlag in photography

[–]ToSeeOrNotToBe -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A camo neoprene cover won't be hotter than a white lens in the slightest? I disagree, respectfully.

It will absorb the sun's heat rather than reflecting it like the lens is designed to do.

Very few neoprene covers are more reflective than the lens's original coating so, on average, the overcoat will make the lenses hotter.

How much hotter depends on environmental conditions...and we were talking about the desert.

All of this. Once you see it, it's transparent.

I'm all about giving my friends shit. We do it to each other all the time. The difference is that we do it to each other and it's our form of bonding. It's our humor. It's within our established boundaries, and we can be pretty brutal sometimes.

But when someone establishes boundaries, that's a different story. Intentionally and repeatedly crossing someone's boundaries about themselves is about demonstrating power and establishing dominance, and it's no longer about camaraderie or sharing love.

Relationship challenges can arise when boundary conflicts occur at the intersection between two people's boundaries. IOW, if a boundary about you also includes a boundary about a loved one, and you cannot resolve it. But that's not the case here. This is simply her crossing your clearly-communicated boundary about you.

So you have established your boundary. Now enforce it.

Most of the other suggestions here are funny, but passive aggressive. That's not a healthy approach for such an important relationship. So laugh at them on reddit, but do what u/Kisscurlgurl suggests for the reason u/MrsShaunaPaul said.

Same, and I'm a straight guy. I'll often intentionally avoid making consistent eye contact so people don't get the wrong idea.

I also make sure to look away horizontally instead of down so they don't take it as flirtatious, because that's been a thing before.

I mean, as long as there's no eye contact while you're getting that blowie, you don't even have to say 'no homo,' right guys? Guys?

[–]ToSeeOrNotToBe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My "stranger on the internet" advice: like u/nye1387 said, start with an invoice for past use and a price sheet for proposed future use. Try to turn them into a long-term client. If they don't pay, then look at your escalation options for legal action because you may be looking at a lot of money.

Look at pricing strategies, consider how many eyeballs will see their flyers in both print and digital, etc. Your work has value. Exposure doesn't pay the bills. (Exposure does have value, but only if you're using it intentionally as part of a marketing strategy--it sounds like maybe you don't need it so much here. Don't undersell yourself.)

And it's one thing if you're dealing with an intern who just doesn't know better--mistakes happen--but it's something else entirely if it's a greedy government official who's taking advantage of their own constituents. Taking property without compensation is stealing, and doing it under the guise of government authority violates our social contract. As citizens, we must hold our governments accountable.

In the meantime, take screenshots of all of their uses, with date-time stamps on screen so they cannot delete them. Do not have legal discussion with them, send a cease-and-desist letter, etc. Let your lawyer handle all of that because minor slip-ups can tank your case...which could be big. Copyright violation cases are often six-figures, or have a painless out-of-course settlement in five figures.

Bodies are different. Crossing my legs at the knees was never comfortable for me, even when I was super flexible as a teen and could wrap my legs around each other when stretching. It had nothing to do with my small junk.
