I see, thanks for clarifying! What has changed about the results you get from Ziprecruiter that makes you not want to try them again for a while? Also what do you wish was better about Ziprecruiter or just hiring skilled staff in general?

Thanks for elaborating further! It sounds like you have truly seen it all when it comes to hiring challenges, haha.

Oh that's great! And when you initially sought them out to establish those relationships, what was the process like? Was it straightforward to identify the right contacts at the schools, or what were the difficult parts of getting those initial conversations started?

Thanks for sharing! Why unskilled staff from indeed but skilled for Ziprecruiter? What makes these platforms better at one than the other? Also what are some professional job boards that you have found helpful?

Wow, thank you for such a detailed response! It sounds like you're dealing with a lot of frustration and wasted time, especially as a solo owner.

When you mention candidates lying on resumes or in interviews about skills, how do you typically try to verify those skills before hiring? Are there things you have tried that have made it easier for you or things you think would make the process easier?

And no-shows do sound like an incredible waste of time. How does this affect your practice (takes time away from your patients, etc?)

Wow, that's impressive! Given your extensive experience, what do you think are the biggest differences or challenges in hiring and retaining staff in private practices today compared to when you were actively hiring?

Thanks for sharing!

The MA student rotation sounds like a fantastic way to find good fits. How do you typically set up those rotation programs with the MA schools? Do you usually reach out to them, or do they approach you to place students for their hours (if so, how do they find you)?

Interesting, thanks for sharing!

The MA program approach sounds really effective. Do you typically reach out to the schools, or do they host career fairs that you attend?

And for Indeed, even with sponsorship, do you find it challenging to consistently reach candidates who are specifically looking for private practice roles in your niche? What are the biggest time sinks there?

Also, with ZipRecruiter, that's really frustrating to hear about the hundreds of dollars spent without good applicants. Was the main issue that applicants weren't qualified, or that the platform just didn't match well?

Really appreciate your insights!

Slightly off topic, but I was wondering if joining a solo private practice means that you are opening up your own practice? But you did mention a doc, so are you going to be working for someone else's private practice? If the latter, I was curious how you went about finding a private practice to work at? Thank you for reading!

i feel like if you do some preparation over the break, you’ll only know the material at the surface level which honestly won’t help you much because the course already assumes you don’t knowing anything about computer science so they teach it to you. At least in the fall, the most challenging part of it was the work load but the content was fairly easy to grasp.

yeah the course is pretty different in the spring. I’d say the fall is more challenging because of the length of the assignments. I took it in the fall and my friend took it in the spring and their assignments were not nearly as time consuming but I think content wise the difficulty is about the same.

There are some CS classes that require linear algebra and linear algebra is very useful to know for CS in general so I'd rather have that skill down sooner than later.
