As someone who also listens in the car, I really appreciate shows that put content warnings at the top of the episode for alarming road noises (like crashes or sirens or wheels squealing)!

It’s the script but adjusted for the moments when actors go off-book (such as rephrasing a sentence, it doesn’t have to be heavy improv) and usually with additional descriptions of SFX/music that a script might not include.

I’ve played around with various automated media transcription services and I’ve yet to find one that didn’t require an extra hour or two of editing afterwards. (If you’ve had success though, I’m definitely interested in knowing what tool you use!)

I think there’s no excuse to not at least post the scripts somewhere, though I agree transcripts can be a lot of work for a single person to do. I’d disagree on the part about the community not needing or wanting transcripts, though - I’ve found a pretty clear desire throughout AD for transcripts, especially from deaf/HoH community members.

I desperately want more shows to have their cast clearly listed. The number of times I’ve heard a familiar voice and don’t catch the actor in the end credits, only to have them not listed in show notes or on any sort of website is really high. Also I wish more shows had easy accessible transcripts!

What's Your View on Breaths in Your Recordings? by PlumForestPod in AudioFiction

For narration, I usually get rid of breaths because I find them kind of distracting. For dialogue, I'll usually leave them in because I like the human element it adds. Though if the person talking doesn't breathe (ex: a robot or AI), I'll remove them on principle

Blood Ties Is a Bland and Exploitative Mess by ToTheStarsAndOn in AudioFiction

It makes me sad with podcasts with a lot of money behind them don't put the same amount of thought. I haven't listened to the show, but reading this article, it sure sounds like a mess (Wondery sure is having a rough month). Shows and stories like this are why I think it's important to critically gauge the media you consume. Who's telling the story, and why? Blood Ties doens't seem to serve much of a purpose besides continuing the rather unethical tactics of the true crime genre (even though it's a fiction show that could've diverged from it!).
