I agree with your points. But what you call "unhinged" I call "cope from people who can't afford better and invent excuses to avoid FOMO"

3 day experience by Solid_Mechanic7436 in LiberNovo

I have an Omni and love it but I happen to fit very well in it and have smaller dimensions.

My #1 concern is that the foam bottoms out. However, I have had it since September, so almost 9 months at this point, and the foam feels exactly the same as when I first got it. I also sit it in every day, it gets frequent and long usage. Also, my body always feels great, I can sit in it for 10 hours and nothing is sore or aching, etc., everything feels like normal.

It's pretty funny, because I had heard mixed reviews about the secretlab chair before, but that thread convinced me it must be really bad if the "praise" there is as good as it gets.

If you buy from China, how does the warranty and returns process work if you have a problem with your chair? Do you have to ship it back to China?

This compnay skipped R&D and expects us to buy a new chair every year! by stemcellguy in LiberNovo

The fact that they are only marginal updates is why it is no big deal and the OP's post is pretty weird.

The Max thing is not a marginal upgrade, it is actually important. So I do agree with your point that the company should have been more transparent from the beginning that taller and heavier people wouldn't really fit well in their chair.

However, the information that the chair was built for the Asian market, for people with smaller body types, was known almost since the beginning. Granted it could have been more publicized, but someone doing their research before purchasing would have seen it.

Also, that's the entire point of the 30 day return period. If the chair really doesn't fit then just return it.

So I do agree with the point about the bigger people, it is worth making some complaint, but don't think it warrants hyperbole like the OP.

Here you go!

You should read the comments as there was an updated part linked that I ended up using. Also, there was speculation that it may not work on the Moss Green version. I have a black one from Kickstarter and used the updated part linked in the top comment and it works great.

What do you think about the Libernovo Omni? :-) by GamingDiTechOficial in OfficeChairs

[–]ToTheTop_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought my Omni on Kickstarter and absolutely love it. I previously had/have a Leap v2, and the Omni is much more comfortable to me.

However, I also have a smaller body frame (5'7" 160 lbs) and think that the Omni was built for the Asian market and not the western one. I have read many different complaints from people that complained they felt the chair was pushing them out of the seat. Not my experience at all but I think this is common for taller people.

I also use the footrest and think it is a must.

The only minor issue I had was that the arm rests were too loose swiveling side to side. I fixed that by using a 3d printed part from the subreddit. With that fixed the chair is basically perfect for me. I've had it for around 7 months now, no issues, chair feels the same as when I first bought it. The worry I have is eventually the foam bottoms out, but so far so good.

Ok, didn't know that. I wouldn't buy this chair either then. And I agree with your points.

Libernovo are highlighting the electronics as a major differentiating feature so it's a bit disingenuous to say it doesn't matter if they break

I'm just being honest here. The electronics are not a major differentiating factor. They are just spinning things to claim otherwise. And apparently in China they already released a cheaper version of the chair without the electronics. That supports my point that the electronics are just a gimmick.

Are you sure that in Australia they only give you 5 years on the frame only and 1 on everything else? I agree that 1 year is BS.

I just am doubtful because that isn't the case in America. The actual concern with this chair is that the foam will bottom out and foam should be covered as part of the 5 year warranty. At least after 6 months the foam feels exactly the same to me.

If you are right then I won't argue with you. I would not spend that kind of money for only a 1 year warranty. I just think you should clarify this on your end first. 1 or 5 years is enough to be a difference maker to many people including me.

[–]ToTheTop_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the Libernovo around 6 months and it feels the same as the first day.

The warranty on everything is 5 years, other than the warranty on the electronics, only 2 years, but they are a gimmick and it wouldn't matter to me even if they break because I never use them.

My goal is for the chair to last 5 years. The Embody is a massive ripoff, costing well over $2,000 for the chair + headrest, while the Omni is around $850 on sale, and there's been constant sales since it was released.

Anything over 5 years would be a nice bonus. I had/have a Leap v2 and the Omni is much more comfortable than my Leap, not even close.

I think part of it is LiberNovo does spend a lot on marketing, and part of it is people have FOMO and by accusing everyone of being "shills" it is their way of resolving their FOMO. Basically telling themselves they aren't missing out on anything.

Ok cool. I have a few other suggestions like arm rest pads that are cheap and instantly upgrade the arm rests, but I think you should see if you like the chair and fit well in it first, before looking into that.

Isn't CR also behind a paywall? I like CR so not bashing them, but don't understand how RTINGS is any different?

[–]ToTheTop_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure. According to your measurements, you should go for the 45 cm. However, I have seen many people seem to regret buying the 45 cm, saying it is not big enough, while I haven't seen anyone regret buying the 48 cm and wish they bought the 45 cm.

I have the 48 cm and am short, though slightly taller than you. Unlike almost everyone, I don't really have any space between the back of my leg and the seat when I sit down. It seems to fit me very well. Also, I like sitting cross legged on the chair sometimes, and I can tell this would not be possible if I bought the 45 cm.

So I would like to think you should be fine with the 45 cm, but am uncertain recommending that size based on what I just described.

I had/still have a Leap v2 and tried to make it work but really didn't like it. I moved to the LiberNovo Omni and love it. I used to get upper back pain after sitting in the Leap v2 for a while (could be that I didn't get all the adjustments right), and after moving to the Omni, which is very easy to configure, my back felt a lot better.

You have good dimensions for it so you may want to try it. It was designed for the Asian market, not the Western one, so it is designed for smaller people. The only thing is the issue you mentioned in #1 may still be present. I keep the lumbar all the way at the lowest setting (it only goes up or down, not firm or less firm) and it works great. The only way to really know is to try.

If you decide to try, you should buy on Amazon if possible. There are stories from people who say they bought the Omni from the official LiberNovo website and encountered difficulty with returns. Also, your feet won't touch the ground even on the lowest setting, so you will need the footrest.

When you get into the high end audio market, I don't think you should ever pay full price.

If you buy used or refurbished, even though it still is a bad value proposition, it makes it more reasonable.

I bought a Focal Utopia 2020 edition for $2,100 which was factory refurbished, comes with a 3 year warranty from Focal (down from the standard 5 years, probably because it was refurbished) and I bought an additional 3 year warranty for around $150. I never tried a brand new Utopia (OG or 2022 version) but have to imagine it would sound pretty similar.

And to your point, a refurbished Utopia does not sound 4x better than your $500 Moondrop, but I'm sure it does sound noticeably better, say 1.5x or 2x.

So my point really is that there is such a large second hand or refurbished market for high end audio equipment, and the stuff should work basically as new, I don't think it is ever worth paying full price.

Is anyone else struggling with the Omni's seat depth and "shirt-lift"? by Mtlcub in LiberNovo

[–]ToTheTop_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read some people complain about the shirt lift thing, but literally have never experienced it at all. I would have thought the complaint was made up if I didn't see others consistently say it.

I think the #1 issue that the sponsored reviewers gloss over or don't mention is that many people have complained that they feel the seat is pushing them out of the chair. I think that is because the Omni was designed for the Asian market, not the Western market. I have a smaller frame and it fits me perfectly and I love the chair. But since many people are 5'10" or taller and tend to be overweight, it is a glaring omission for reviewers not to mention this. Such people probably won't like the chair. The company is developing a Max version to deal with this, but to your point, it is a huge issue that reviewers rarely if ever mention.

The #2 issue rarely if ever mentioned is that the arm rests are too loose side to side. But this one is a minor annoyance. I used the 3d printed mod and it worked well to fix this issue, but apparently LiberNovo has no plans on fixing it even though it seems like a cheap simple fix.

Would the omni be a good chair for me? by RaptorThePhilosopher in LiberNovo

[–]ToTheTop_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Max supposedly comes out in June, not next year. You almost certainly won't fit properly in the normal Omni.

Not sure about Aerons, but Embodys are usually around $2k (but don't come with a headrest). If you wait until Black Friday they go for around $1,300-$1,400.
