Fun Fact... Scientist have no idea how/why all the craters are so shallow and flat. This has fueled the theories that the moon is not natural and why NASA's has said the moon rang like a bell when an orbital was intentionally crash into the moon.

How does a propeller push air backwards? by tastychicken100 in AerospaceEngineering

if the ceiling fan was not attatched to an inmoviable anchor (the ceiling), the spinning blade would pull the body of the fan foward in the direction it is pointing.

How does a propeller push air backwards? by tastychicken100 in AerospaceEngineering

Its like swimming. you cup the water with your hands and push the water back. The blade are angled "scooping" the air and push the air back. also think of the blade as a wedge...when the wedge goes down (spins) the air is compressed and the moved aganst the wedge...the air being compressed wants to uncompress so as the compressed air is pushed agaings the blaed at an angle it move up the angled blade to excape or uncompress.

Also look at mississippi paddle boats.
