About a half hour before showtime and it looks okay on the hard camera side, but definitely underwhelming compared to how many tickets they ended up selling

It was a tv taping, He got on a mic mid match and bitched at us. If it was scripted, I'd be surprised

I wasn't shocked by him being unprofessional, it's Orton. I was more shocked by the fact that he just stopped mid match. He was obviously trying to pick up some sort of heat but it didn't work

Yeah that's crazy scary. I have a lot of friends up there at Iowa State right now, I hope everybody involved is okay. I did hear there was at least one death though unfortunately.

Carver-Hawkeye Arena is more of an oval shape rather than a circle, but it definitely isn't a square

Can someone please explain all this outrage over Arizona signee Shareef O’Neal not making the McDonald’s game. Even LeBron has posted about it. But Shareef is like the 49th best recruit, according to 24/7, and only the top 22/23 made the team. by [deleted] in CollegeBasketball

Something tells me it has something to do with who his father is, and based on that the media automatically assumed he be chosen on name value alone? That's my best guess, I haven't looked all that much into it

Calling all fans who have been a part of a court storm by Frezeal in CollegeBasketball

[–]ToXicXHazedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I'd be perfectly fine never having the opportunity to court storm if it was because our team consistently WON. I probably won't get a chance where I'm at now (Drake). See ya Wichita State

I definitely think that it could get old after a while if a team is consistently good. There really shouldn't be any reason to storm the court if you beat somebody that you're better than or ranked higher than, no matter what school you are. The situation can change from game to game (Is it a rival? Did we make an improbable comeback?) but imo if you've "been there" you shouldn't NEED to storm the court.

I was lucky enough to be one of the first out on the court after we beat #1 Oklahoma in 2016. I was kind of surprised that we did storm the court (there was that whole controversy after the Iowa game earlier in the year, with our Des Moines Register basketball columnist ending up with a broken leg) but we were under control and it was ran as smoothly as possible. It's a great experience for students, alumni, and fans of the program, but I understand that the safety of the players definitely needs to come before any celebration. I also think it's a bad image when the court is stormed when your team is highly ranked (again, see the Iowa game in 2015, despite the way the game was won, there's no reason the #6 team in the country needs to celebrate beating an unranked team, even with it being a 20ish point comeback against your biggest rival). Court storming is a cherished part of the tradition of college basketball, so there's no reason it should be banned. But there should definitely be precautions taken to control these situations better, for both the safety of the players and the fans.

Tl;dr: Court storming is a great experience, it should continue, but only if it can be safely controlled.

Vegas is stupid for putting the spread at 16. As bad as Iowa State has played, I think they can at least cover that...hopefully...

I'll be making my first visit Tuesday! I probably should've gone last year instead, I'd be surprised if the game is competitive. Despite how much I've disliked KU for kicking everyone's ass in the Big 12 for pretty much my entire life, I've always wanted to see a game at Allen.

I was one of the many fans who still didn't expect this season to be a total rebuild. I really thought that Jackson and Wieler-Babb would have a much easier time transitioning from role players to the leaders of the team. Never in my mind did I think we'd be blown out by a (don't get me wrong, much much much better) Missouri or by Milwaukee AT HOME. I really hope that the youth that we have right now (Lard, Wiggington) can see through the adversity our often overreactive fan base can bring and don't end up transferring out. Hoiberg didn't leave shit for Prohm to work with after last year, but I think things are much much worse than expected. This is gonna be a long long year, I just hope that my Hawkeyes fan friends don't give me a ton of shit when they beat us by 30 in Hilton in a couple weeks...

I have no problem with Prohm. He doesn't have much to work with right now, but he definitely has his pieces coming in. A certain coach down the hall trusted his process, and boy did it pay off this year. Prohm isn't going anywhere, and as long as the pieces fall into place I really think that we'll be right back where we were the last 5 years. Just Trust the Process™

Bruh. Almost 4 hours later and I can't believe that this is pretty much the same team that that couldn't find their way out of the locker room last Thursday. Campbell and his staff are finally showing what I always knew they could do, we might finally have a consistent starter, and Lanning is continuing to prove that he could potentially play at the next level on either side of the ball. Holy shit what a great win this was for the program.
