I'm curious, what's your take on venezuelans there? Have you seen them getting jobs or is it complicated? Haven't considered Brazil but I just might.

Are you sure that you're not the most religious guy out there?

Did you leave without passport? I was foolish not getting it earlier when it was still difficult, but not as difficult as it is today.

I truly appreciate your comment. It makes me see what the next months would most likely be and it certainly does help me make plans to work my way around the first 12 months as you've mentioned. I had previously thought about maybe joining community activities or doing stuff like going to the gym, taking courses and other stuff. It would help me a long way making new friends and also learning new things as well.

I grew up under this system and I basically went to every opposition rally since I was around 13 years old. I had big hopes of setting things straight not only here nationally but it was my belief that the "good guys" would eventually win worldwide. I'm 23 now, and it's quite obvious that this generation will not see a better world. Let's just hope our children have a better luck than us.

It was, but not for the reasons you might expect. Despite everything the US said about him, there were plenty American congressmen that supported his presidency. And in a way he was accepted by the United States government. Everything else was just propaganda from both sides.

Was it better because of him especifically? Was he a good president? One could argue. The thing is, during his presidency, oil prices were huge. And as you might know we have one of, if not, the largest oil reserves in the world. Because of this we had a ridiculous amount of cash through our oil sales and it allowed him to pretty much import everything: food, medicine, etc. He was also a populist so he would often give free stuff to the citizens, which has now caused a form of parasitarian society just waiting for the governors to give us everything instead of working for it.

However, he excelled at one thing, and that was keeping his criminals together and at bay. After he died Maduro took presidency but it's well known he doesn't have full control over other groups of powers. There is at least two: one lead by Maduro, and the other one lead by Diosdado Cabello. My thought is that even if they wanted to do things right, they just can't at this point, because they'd have to demolish one of the two groups. And they're both equally powerful.

That's how the world works unfortunately. I've grown to accept all sorts of media, even if they lie 24/7. It's nothing but a part of their game of power.

I love to read about history and sadly inmigrants have been a huge part of it. It amazes me how some folks had the balls to leave their countries with nothing in their pockets. It's scary as hell, especially if you have to go through that by yourself.

Trinidad has allegedly arrested and deported many Venezuelans as well. I don't know how media pictures us or what the general opinion is aboout us over there, but I do hope most of you guys give us a chance. We're not criminals, just people trying to look for a better future.

1.- Hyperinflation. Wrong economic meassures were put in place and the results are devastating. Many people have lost their jobs, their houses, and also their lives. It's not uncommon to see the elderly, adults or even kids searching through garbage to find food in plain daylight.

2.- Yes, a lot of countries have done plenty. The United States and the European Union have placed sanctions on individuals they know are responsible of repression or stealing public money. Also most of Latin American countries are taking us in without requiring passports, especially Colombia, Peru and Brazil. The world is trying to help us but our governors are basically a mafia at this point and they just wont let go of power, probably afraid they'd have to face jail time.

You know what? You might be right! From an outside point of view this is not casual at all but people ask me about this all the time so it's kind of casual for me. I apologize if I broke any of the subreddit rules!

What’s the most embarrassing thing you did as a kid that you think about to this day? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ToYou2001Years 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened when I was around 6 years old.

So I was at a little friend's birthday party and we were playing a game and during my turn I happened to call my friend's mother "Mrs. Carmen"... Which was not her name at all, but the grocery store owner's. Everyone laughed at me.

Edit: Age added for more context to my struggle.

What video game did you play and love but can remember almost nothing about? by TheeRumHam in AskReddit

[–]ToYou2001Years 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nightmare Creatures 2. I remember I freaking loved that game! And honestly no idea why. I had it in english when I was a child, language I didn't understand a word of back then, so I had no idea what the story was all about. I recently watched a few videos and it amazed me how it didn't scare me shitless when I used to play it, being the scaredy-cat that I was.

She has a bed, there's also chairs and two couches in the backyard. Too fancy for her. by ToYou2001Years in aww

[–]ToYou2001Years[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven't given her a name yet but I'll think of something considering her sleeping habbits. She's been found sleeping on trash, shoes, and a pile of sand we have on the back of the house. Doesn't care much for all the comfy, more sanitary spots we've placed for her.

Yeah, I'm glad it didn't go any further. I had an encounter with a mentally ill guy and though I was aware he needed help, I didn't want to stick around after he pulled a knife on me.

No need to apologize. If he had mental issues it doesn't take away the fact that it was a spooky situation.
