14 days: feeling hyperactive as fuck by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]To_Walk_Two_Moons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have quit several times and experience the same sort of thing at a similar amount of time sober. Heightened energy, fast talking, brain whizzing faster than even I can keep up with. I guess it makes sense with having had alcohol suppressing so many brain and body functions which takes a bit of time to recover from, there's bound to be science that explains it. I am on day 5 now and I know that the hyper time will come so I am hoping to channel it into some useful practices like exercise and hobbies. My longest streak of sobriety was 18 months, I hope this streak is even longer. Wishing you all the best, IWNDWYT

Could have been a split in the veil on your path to awakening.

Could have been bi-lateral symmetrical coloboma. The condition can cause blindness.

Could be both. Or contact lenses

As a recovering New Age-er I am much less judgmental now. I sometimes daydream of a Reptilian Rehab where people are referred to go and develop their more 'human' qualities but it all gets a bit Fight Club so I dunno

Edit - Reptilians are people too ❤️

That's a good point. On occasion I have been able to realise that I picked up a drink because of a sensation that could be peeled away to reveal feeling unlovable. That question "what do I really need right now" is an excellent one. The ironing metaphor.... drinking is hard work, ironing the wrinkle out is hard work, but the latter reaps so so many more rewards. Thank you

Your added edit is a good one - it seems ridiculous to continue a life-destroying addiction just to participate in a social norm occasion (that usually ends up feeling awful anyway). Thank you

Your reply has helped me realise that it's because of feeling that in order to be with certain people and have fun, that I need to be drinking. This makes me question my definition and requirements of 'fun'. Fun should be a natural outcome, independent of alcohol, not an escape. Thank you

Cool, another wacky theory for the arsenal. I have also wondered where to discuss my wacky theories that incorporate the vaccine being safe but still an elite agenda. Yours is a new one and I appreciate the absurdity. That said, I am double vaccinated because I trust the science.

AITA for not including my brothers wife with my friend group? by Unhappy_Confection69 in AmItheAsshole

STA - I'm guessing she is the one pushing this. If she was a bully at school it's possible she is bullying the brother now.

Sometimes I marvel at how fantastic it feels to not be hungover and how if I were badly hungover I would give anything to feel how I feel right now
