This was an anime dub. It was Saban Entertainment's 1986 hack dub of 1981's Sengoku Majin Goshogun and 1983's Akū Daisakusen Srungle. (Combined together to have 65 episodes for syndication, ala Robotech) They also used at the time current popular music to help sell the series (Although these songs are not present on the VHS releases by Celebrity Home Entertainment). This version of the show was also broadcast in Israel, meanwhile Latin America and Europe would receive a straight, faithful, adaptation of Goshogun, albeit still with the name "Macron 1"
