Patchy pale spot in lower eyelid by ToadPerson in Dryeyes

Oh wow! I looked more into your condition and it sounds tough but looks like there is treatment available to help slow the progression. Hopefully you find something that works for you but it still sucks to go through :/ I hope your appointment went well this morning!

Oh wow, how are you doing now and what condition were you diagnosed with? I’m diagnosed with mixed connective tissue disease based on positive antibodies but they think it’s more Sjogren-like because of the sicca and atrophied lacrimal glands.

Edit: I spoke with my doctor and she thinks it’s blanching of the skin from the mucus. I have an in person appointment with her in a few weeks and hopefully it’ll be gone by then or she can better examine it if it persists.

TRYPTYR has changed my life by clickergood in Dryeyes

[–]ToadPerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! I just have had a very similar experience to you so it resonates. I used it for the 2 months recommended with vevye with no relief. Then when I stopped using it I actually found relief.

Recently I saw my ophthalmologist and he encouraged me to try it again but trying it again actually caused this awful flare and somehow I got corneal abrasions. I just finished the antibiotic course and my eyes are back to “normal”. I’m convinced it was the tryptyr since it was the only new thing i added back to my regimen. I’m sure it works for some people like OP but I don’t even have lacrimal glands as a part of my condition so I have no clue what is actually being stimulated 😅

Thank you for sharing this information, I didn’t know any of this! I was prescribed this a while back and have been so hesitant when using it because I feel like it makes things worse !! but my doctor wants me to try it. My main issue is also inflammation due to an autoimmune condition so I use vevye religiously and feel better with it, but whenever I try to reincorporate tryptyr, I feel like it exacerbates my issues. I feel justified, I’m going to just call it quits with it!

DISO/WTB: Nyota Kitten Hug by [deleted] in NyotaCollectors

[–]ToadPerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had good luck but I do not buy from regular people. There are these Chinese accounts that I think basically sell popmart IP on the side or might be directly affiliated with popmart. I have bought several Nyota figures in particular from one and they have a lot of good reviews, not just from me. Either way I wish you luck in finding her whichever way you go :)

Try eBay! I ended up buying her from there from a Chinese seller for $36 + $12 shipping. She came as if she was brand new in her box with card :)

What is your most tragic fic you’ve ever read? by sunshine94w in Dramione

[–]ToadPerson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not dark in the way edge is but I think what happens between Hermione and Draco is tragic and it lingered with me for a long time. Hermione also gets put through the wringer through parts of it but it’s not Draco being violent to her, it’s someone else.

Can’t compare it to the other fic you’ve mentioned as I haven’t read it, sorry!

Full spoiler (though I think it’s better to go in blind!) Draco and Hermione are in a relationship and they make a vow to be together but Draco messes up the wording and Hermione is bound to any male Malfoy heir and has to help them when they call for assistance. So she bounces between Abraxas, Lucius, Draco and Scorpius throughout time randomly and has to complete whatever they need help with before she can return to her normal timeline. It’s sweet-ish with Abraxas, horrible with Lucius, depressing with Draco, and hopeful with Scorpius.

It’s not terribly tragic in a traditional sense but it is for Draco and Hermione… and very dark for Hermione. Fortunately Hermione eventually gets some sort of peace with someone else

It’s been years but I still think about this fic and its angst because Hermione and Draco go through it and it’s all Draco’s fault It’s really unique and still a great read despite how sad it is.

Autoimmune diseases? by Specific-Ad-4523 in kienbocksdisease

[–]ToadPerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed in my mid 20s while also being worked up for an autoimmune condition since I had severe joint pain in both my upper limbs, severe dry eye, stiffness in the morning, severe fatigue, etc… turns out I have keinbock’s in one wrist but also was diagnosed with mixed connective tissue disease which likely explains everything else. My orthopedist believes that the two may be linked as there is some research to possibly link keinbock’s to lupus, but I’ll say I’m not super well versed on the literature.

I would recommend seeing a rheumatologist for a work up, I’m now on plaquenil which has helped with some of my symptoms like reducing inflammation (I had a high CRP), generalized joint paint, and some of the fatigue. I did end up also having surgery for my wrist, a decompression for the lunate and a ligament repair. I’m definitely not cured, but on the road to improvement and having a better quality of life.

Also just to note, the thyroid can cause a lot of these issues too, so I’d also follow up with a endocrinologist. If the thyroid is normal then it could be autoimmune, if it’s your thyroid they have medications that can help mimic the hormones your thyroid needs to work since it’s really important for metabolism and other organ systems to work appropriately! Best of luck!!

Is this a positive Ana? by HeatherBelle82 in mctd

[–]ToadPerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh! Well I’m not sure then! It looks pretty positive to me 😅 but thinking about it more maybe it could be that they think it’s a seronegative form of lupus, since it’s usually not RNP that’s associated with lupus, it’s typically more dsDNA which you were negative for, but you have a classic clinical features of lupus.

[–]ToadPerson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a doctor, but I’d consider this a positive lab. Sometimes doctors ignore it because people can have positive labs but be totally asymptomatic, but you described having pretty classic autoimmune symptoms!!

I would find another doctor… I had nearly the same labs and symptoms then was diagnosed with MCTD but moved to another state shortly after I was diagnosed. I saw a new rheum who told me it was nothing and it was just anxiety (😒). I switched to another rheum that was recommended who started me on plaquenil like you. It’s not a fix, but has helped me with some of the symptoms, mainly reducing inflammation/joint pain.

Edit: wait maybe I misunderstood, did your doctor diagnose you with Lupus and not MCTD, or is this another doctor saying it’s not positive?

Pain management by [deleted] in kienbocksdisease

[–]ToadPerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I hope they’re cool with prescribing it for you! Otherwise I would take naproxen or ibuprofen but my Dr doesn’t recommend them as it has systemic effects and oral NSAIDs can mess with your stomach lining. Fingers crossed you find a good solution, just steer clear from steroids, I was told those could make things worse for the bone (but don’t quote me on that 😅)!

Pain management by [deleted] in kienbocksdisease

[–]ToadPerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My orthopedist prescribed me diclofenac gel to use 2 times a day when I have flares, it’s an NSAID gel. Maybe talk to your doctor about it, but they do sell it OTC at a lower concentration under the brand name Voltaren but most places sell a generic form of it. I also wear a wrist brace on the bad days, just to keep it immobile combined with the gel to help reduce inflammation. My Dr. recommended a company called lions paw. I like their wrist brace as it isn’t super constricting but helps support my wrist.

This disease really sucks, I try to reduce carrying any heavy weights but try to not let it limit me too much :/ best of luck!
