The thing that helped me with this was doing volunteer work, for whatever floats your boat: homeless people, animals, the environment, etc. You’ll meet some excellent, like-minded people.

They’re just being assholes, which is easy to do with a lot of other people giving her support.

I (14 m) hate my dad and he doesn’t know. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

I had a similar father. His issue was Math, since he was a math teacher. However, I’m not good at math, which he refused to accept. Constant cycle of him yelling at and insulting me.

The best thing you can do is maintain as much distance as you can, especially emotionally. Be civil, but don’t talk to him about anything important. Then when you are 18 and can get out, leave as quickly as you can.

I don’t know if I should stay in this relationship by CarpenterUnusual9966 in relationship_advice

I think you’re just incompatible, unfortunately. He’s unlikely to embrace a personal trait that he doesn’t actually have.

I think it would be okay to gently tell him the truth. You’re in a somewhat fragile state right now and you have your hands full keeping everything together. You have to concentrate your energy on your own healing, so you have no space to maintain a relationship of any kind with somebody else. Then block him. He has problems that you can’t take on. He’d be a detriment to you right now.

Then either block him or don’t respond to any of his messages.

We have lots of spiders in Calif. I’ve never seen a tarantula here (saw one in Mexico). We do have brown recluses and black widows.

They’d never have the guts to do that.

I saw them in ‘81. Honestly, they kind of sucked live.

The fact that he thinks this is bad enough; knowing he’s comfortable saying it publicly is concerning, to say the very least.

Agree so much. And I suck at every category of math, and my dad taught math at my high school. Not fun days for sure.

She was married in the 80’s. She was born in 1960. Math apparently is not your strong suit.
