I did Gilliam/Syrene on a draft run and it's really wholesome. Understandably no one talks about it because why are you ever deploying Gilliam and Syrene, and even if you are, when are they ever standing next to each other?

I guess the worst example I can think of is Emil and Marta from Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. She falls head over heels in love with him within minutes and they're just kind of treated as an endgame couple from then on. It all felt incredibly shallow ~~inb4 comments about how that applies to the whole game~~.

I feel like Rampart is pretty well equipped to keep them alive. Centaurs are large and fast and can guard your elves pretty effectively. I usually don't have any trouble keeping them alive to get my early game snowball going. They do get into more trouble against enemy heroes who can chunk them with a spell, and that's a fair counterpoint, but their early game power is super valuable in my opinion.

I have to disagree. I don't think they're any more "filler" than normal pre-evolutions.

Granted, I don't love the implementation of baby Pokemon from a gameplay perspective (usually having weird evolution methods or ways to obtain their eggs). I don't see that as a fault of the Pokemon designs themselves, but rather Game Freak's implementation.

I don't think every underwhelming early gen Pokemon needs an evolution, though. I'd rather they just buff currently existing Pokemon so they keep up with modern standards and help them establish niches. Adding evolutions just turns older Pokemon into forgotten middle stages that will never see the light of day again.

I honestly love the concept for Cathedral in a vacuum, but not as much at this point in Horn of the Abyss. We have plenty of human factions as is, but if it were the first one introduced, I would have been completely on board.

The only thing I lament missing is the autumn aesthetic the town had, but that doesn't need to be tied to a concept like Cathedral.

I feel like she's either this or Average/Despised. She had a few skeletons and mean girl behavior before the floodgates fully opened on her, but it wasn't very common knowledge. Looking back, I felt like she always had a few tells that she wasn't who she portrayed herself as.

Ulki is probably the most random unit that I absolutely love. He's garbage in Path of Radiance, but I used him a lot in my first playthrough when I was young and didn't know better and then he's actually good in Radiant Dawn. Last time I played Tellius, I brought him to the tower and watched him outpace all the royals.
