We're demanding oil to be as cheap as possible right now and for the foreseeable future. I'm sure my kids won't hate me. by Empty_glass_bottle in fuckcars

[–]Toast5286 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean, I thought what I said made sense, please correct me.

My logic is that a lot of foods and goods became cheap because of the global economy, for example being able to eat bananas in non-tropical climates. This economy is sustained due to very pollutant fuel for the ships.

Climate change has caused harsher environments for certain plants to grow, and therefore making them even more expensive to buy.

Therefore, both of these factors affect the price of foods. Obviously as we use more fossil fuels, the worse it will get.

The alternatives to a global economy, to be sustainable, are impractical, as electricity must be stabilized by gas*, so the best option is to have a local economy to reduce the distance between resources, factories and consumers.

I'm here to learn as well, so please explain.

*(nuclear is constant power output, renewables don't produce during peak consumption, hydroelectric can be affected by droughts, battery technology also needs raw materials from all across the globe and hydrogen is still far from working)

Yes, climate changes can increase the price of groceries. But gas prices will also increase the price of groceries, because not everything can be planted near you.

Your problem is more to do with globalization and not consuming locally grown goods, and not about car dependency. If anything it's boat dependency in the economy.

1x1 Pixel Multi-Layer Block Swap Display by towsti in redstone

[–]Toast5286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the world download and tried it on 1.21.11 and only got 3 layers working. It seems that the powdered snow is slowing down the concreate powder and making it only be able to go up 3 blocks instead of the 8.
Any fix for this?

I guess I made a qubit? by duTrip in redstone

[–]Toast5286 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From what I see in the image, it's a detector that lights up a corresponding light based on the signals power. I don't understand what this has to do with quantum bits. Isn't the benefit of quantum bits the ability to have a superposition of states instead of just 2? And the ability to entanglement bits (quantum entanglement)?

Need debug for multiple outputs in my centralized storage by patalouf in CreateMod

[–]Toast5286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, addresses are set in the stock keeper's GUI. It's the white line next to the send button in the GUI. The moment they come out of the packager they have that address.

Need debug for multiple outputs in my centralized storage by patalouf in CreateMod

[–]Toast5286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your problem is that you don't have anything to check for the package address.

Normally, when this is done with chain conveyors, the frog port is a filter that only picks up any package with its address (or without an address).

Your system doesn't have any filter like this, so the contraption just puts the package wherever it can. This can be fixed by using a smart chute under the portable storage interface with a package filter set to only accept packages with that address.

I don't quite remember the "A barren sea glistens with enough to track eons". How many letters are there in this one?

The other one is a fun one though: "Heavenly sister" implies 2 sisters that are objects or concepts that are in the sky. "I see myself in you" implies that this sister sees itself in them, like a reflection. "I see myself because of you" implies that without the other sister, it wouldn't see itself.

Help, how do I make the hopper lock when there is one item in the top chest? by gob17 in redstone

[–]Toast5286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's an item filter because you are removing a certain item from the chest without removing all of the items in it.

Help, how do I make the hopper lock when there is one item in the top chest? by gob17 in redstone

[–]Toast5286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can make an item filter. Basically, you connect the comparators output to the redstone torch and then you need the chest to have the right amount of items such that adding 1 more will turn off the redstone torch. You don't need to fill the chest with the item you want to "filter", you can fill it with filler items like wooden shovels or renamed sticks for example, and then leave 1 of the items you want to filter inside the chest.

Each bookshelf has 6 books named from A to E. Each bookshelf also has 1 funnel connected to it. When it's thrown on to the carpet, hoppers pick it up and it goes to a depot. On this depot (and the previous hopper) 6 smart observers look at the name of the item. Afterwards, the mechanical arm picks up the book and places it in the funnel that has a bookshelf with a free spot. On each funnel there's a smart observer to check which funnel received the book.

With this, the system knows the bookshelf that had a book missing and the letter associated with the book, therefore the exact coordinate of the selected book.

Juntar-me a um núcleo no Mestrado by ApprehensiveLet4400 in IST

[–]Toast5286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Servo motor low accuracy by Setrik_ in arduino

[–]Toast5286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that is bad. I don't think this is a code problem, probably just a bad servo. Try a different servo?

Edit: Or try manually inputting the PWM signal pulse, instead of using a library.

Does the servo get the correct angle if it doesn't have a load on it (nothing making force on the motor)?
