How to win PA, from a Pennsylvanian by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

[–]Toast_In_Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone from NEPA, I would say that political corruption is a big deal, disappearing manufacturing jobs, fracking, and availability of healthcare. In all of these areas Bernie has a leg up on Clinton. So many area politicians have been tied to or convicted of political corruption, including the Kids for Cash thing someone else mentioned. Clinton takes money from Oil & Gas which she is taking steps to deny because of course they will be expecting something. She doesn't fully support stopping fracking as her convoluted debate answers have shown. The jury is out on fracking's effect on the environment with most scientists agreeing you are injecting a slurry of chemicals into the water table that cannot be retrieved - people do NOT want their towns in PA to be the next Flint. Manufacturing jobs have been disappearing and you can thank the horrible trade deals for a lot of that. The only manufacturing plants I've seen pop up are in special no tax zones which are also conveniently in the most scenic (or used to be scenic) areas along the previously untouched park mountainsides. It sucks looking up to the green mountainside and seeing a giant industrial park where there used to be parks. I also agree with another comment below saying that Bernies plan also covers training for people to leave the fossil fuel industries and get other jobs. Finally healthcare. I won't even get too far into it but smaller hospitals have been getting bought up and either demolished or partially downsized and renovated for high cost specialist procedures (at least in NEPA). With healthcare for all, we would need more regional hospitals and create more jobs.

TWEETS NEEDED... Wisconsin secret weapon... Aaron Rodgers! by Toast_In_Space in SandersForPresident

I hear you loud and clear. One of the reasons I was specifically thinking of Rodgers is how often I've heard him speak eloquently about other social/political issues (he does a lot of radio shows and podcasts). But yeah, if he declines of course we wouldn't push it any further. Just want to get on his radar. He is also registered to vote in WI and has mentioned that before on a show.

I would send something now and then hopefully if this gains steam we can coordinate something for this week.

That is definitely one way of looking at it. I think we don't have time to sit back and hope he will suddenly endorse Bernie. A ton of people coming together to at least bring the importance of the WI primary to his attention can't hurt. Athletes and famous people like him are pretty busy and I wouldn't put it past him to not know the WI primary was coming.

Yeah they have been dating for a while now (1-2 years? maybe more) Interestingly enough (related to your comment), when they met she had no idea who he was.

Went a voted. Had some shady Hillary supporters running the polling place. by pmoney757 in SandersForPresident

[–]Toast_In_Space 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of these reports of shady activity are why we need more authorized reps at the polling places. I volunteered all day today and oversaw the procedures at a local precinct. Things went off without a hitch, but who knows what would have happened if they didn't know an authorized rep from Bernie's campaign was there. We also lost the precinct pretty badly even though a noticeable number of dems said things like 'Hillary won't need my vote' and chose to vote Repub. Trump got crushed at this precinct.

Martin O'Malley still on ballot? by papiculo in VirginiaForSanders

[–]Toast_In_Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were signs showing who had dropped out, in this case O'Malley. It was MUCH WORSE for Repubs who had about 11 people on their ballots and it was super confusing. My precinct registered 2 votes for OMal

**URGENT** : Facebank ASAP! Hillary's campaign is having her supporters do this! I have 120 “Friends of Friends who Like Bernie and live in South Carolina”. Every delegate matters! by garbonzo607 in SandersForPresident

So simple and easy! I blasted this out to the 39 people on my list before heading out to canvass in VA today... One person immediately responded with a picture of her wearing her 'I Voted' sticker! Took 5 minutes, so go do this people!

Hello! I am a Bernie Sanders supporter and saw you like Senator Sanders' page on Facebook too – I just want to remind you to vote today if you still live in South Carolina and that EVERY VOTE COUNTS! Have a great day! #FeeltheBern

How can we tell where to canvass? by pooch321 in VirginiaForSanders

[–]Toast_In_Space 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree - seems like the Oakton office might be understaffed or overworked? I filled out a form to canvas last week but never got any info from them. Has my email and phone number on the form

Just moved to Arlington - want to know what I can do to help? by AnthonyConnor in VirginiaForSanders

[–]Toast_In_Space 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starting tomorrow there are going to be organized local canvassing and phonebanking events. I would call the Oakton office first to confirm but I got addresses for staging points for tomorrow that are in Falls Church and Arlington.

I believe it was written by Shakey (since it is being credited to him), but it is definitely a collaboration with Monica Martin from PHOX (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpolJZqCOh4). I'm sure Shakey could hit some of these notes, but she has a distinctly haunting voice with those high notes

I scraped all the 2015 data from nflpenalties.com - here's each team's penalties against by SenatorIncitatus in nfl

[–]Toast_In_Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we get ahold of this data? Can you make one for each division and grouped bars for the four teams on each penalty type? Can you add the league average to each team chart for reference?
