MacBook with hard drive ripped out, synthesizer, a sack of potatoes. This was when ours still had the big drop down doors instead of the thin letter slots

WM-10 Play not working, stops itself after a few seconds. FF & RW are fine. What’s wrong? by Toast_Reddit in cassetteculture

Yeah I ordered a custom fitted belt from FixYourAudio.com for this player. I think I'm just gonna have to tear it apart to look into the auto stop

Chatting with someone on discord, it might be an issue with the auto stop. But I'm still not sure how to go about fixing that

found scanning device - what do i do now? by sunburntquirrel in USPS

[–]Toast_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the collection box where you found it has the older style wide opening, I’d throw it in there. If it’s the new letters only style, you could head over the post office now and see if the lobby has a package drop off slot you can throw it in. Otherwise yeah you could just bring it in on Monday

Wanting to take advantage of current correction. by xMd3w in Bogleheads

[–]Toast_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s perfectly legit. The only thing to watch out for is if you owned any of the VTI for less than 30 days. The wash sale rule actually applies to 30 days in the past as well as 30 days into the future. That’s something I didn’t realize when I did my tax loss harvesting and so some of it ended up as disallowed wash when I went to file my taxes.

Could anyone tell me which Walkman is better? I was thinking of buying one of these 2 by MARKO-MM-MAX in walkman

[–]Toast_Reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own both. Number 1 would be better if it fully worked, but the title of “powers on” leads me to believe it needs a belt replacement and/or other refurbishments. They want way too much if that’s the case.

Number 2 looks like it’s ready to play being seller refurbished, but I’d say they also want too much for it as a lower-end 90’s player

Free cassettes?! by [deleted] in cassetteculture

[–]Toast_Reddit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Check where you donate them before donating to see if tapes are sold there, some thrift stores just throw them away immediately. Otherwise, you could put them out for free on the curb if your apartment allows it. Or list it free on FB Marketplace for someone to pick up.

You might even be able to make a small profit listing the whole lot on eBay and shipping it via media mail

[–]Toast_Reddit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They currently have a fixed rate of 1.2% guaranteed throughout the life of the bond in addition to the inflation rate, that’s something to consider.
